hmmm, I'll believe it when I see it. Didnt the BBC do something similar to this when they were showing something else and they had a feed of the race in the corner? Mexico 1990? Or was it sometihng else

Now this sounds like wishful thinking, cause I think they got the same backlash when they had ads in 1998 and Schumi dropped out in Japan cause of a puncture, handing Hakkinen his first title. It was nice of them to show the last 3 laps of Imola 05 uncut though.

Doesn't RTL have the same sorta system? They have the race going on in the top left corner, and the ads playing in most of the screen. The first time I saw this in 2004 I thought: "Why doesn't ITV do something similar?" As it turned out, 2004 didn't exactly need it. ;)

That's how they do it in o globo (brazil).

Is the best F1 broadcast I've seen. Sadly, I don't get that channel anymore...

During the race.
But when we HAD ads....it was terrible, it looked like it became more every race! And they were always just too short to go to the toilet ;)

@ Paul, do you just wee yourself like the drivers in the cars do?

when the ads come on, i think to myself, "must dash for a piss-stop".

in 1990 bbc should race highlights then joined the race live for the last 30 mins. The live feed started just as sennas rear tyre blew but at least we saw the mansell berger battle.

I think the ads should be in the corner

but to get value for money they will show them for longer, or shorter ads more times, like Nick said happened in Holland.

at least currently we get full on race-coverage, then 2 minutes dedicated adverts, then back to full race-coverage.

with in-screen ads, they'd appear every few minutes and be very distracting, and even more annoying than the current format.

if they keep it as 2 minute ads as it is now, but make them split screen, it'll be fine. as long as they stick to the same quantity of ads that are the same length, that'll be ok.

but you know tv companies, what they giveth with one hand, they taketh away with the other.

they might say to us, "you can have continuous race coverage with in-screen ads, but they'll be longer/more frequent".

Its agaisnt UK broadcasting rules and will not happen. Adverts must take up 70% of the screen and, theres silly laws about moving images or text
