Pelé explained his mistake in an interview. He didn't know which one was the leader's (Schumacher's) car. The race director told when he would tap Pelé on the should when the right car came around the last corner. But when he did so Pelé turned aound and went "What?". And Schumacher crossed the finish line.

''In 1994 Frentzen was given a Formula 1 drive by Peter Sauber in a Mercedes powered car, as team mate to Wendlinger. So impressive was he that Frank Williams asked him to replace Ayrton Senna at Williams after the Brazilian's death, but Frentzen chose to remain with Sauber and his performances helped to maintain the team's momentum after Karl Wendlinger was seriously injured at Monaco. The following year in the now Ford-powered Sauber he got his first podium finish and ended the year 9th in the Drivers Championship. However, the 1996 Sauber was unreliable, with many races ending in retirements and Frentzen dropping down the order, though he was one of only four drivers remaining at the end of that year's chaotic, rain-soaked Monaco Grand Prix.''

Just felt like a bit of a work break and came across this interesting bit of info! I have always rated Frentzen, given some of the crappy machinery, he has put in some spectacular performances! His Jordan wins being somewhat incredible, fighting Schumacher!

and this!

''2000 and 2001 were critical years as Honda also began to supply the BAR team, resulting in a race between the teams as to who would secure the regular engine supply. In 2000 Frentzen managed two podiums, which were the best results for the team, but Jordan still finished down the grid and, crucially, behind BAR. After some low points finishes, injury, disagreements about the technical direction of the team ( Frentzen reportedly offered to pay for the changes to fix the car, out of his own pocket )and then a string of retirements half way through the 2001 season, Team Jordan dropped Frentzen and replaced him with Jean Alesi. Frentzen took Alesi's place at the struggling Prost team, and managed to qualify a brilliant 4th at Spa, before the outfit collapsed at the end of the season.''

The 1987 season saw two world championships - while Williams were busy doing the double with Nelson Piquet, Tyrrell took the 'atmo' double - they won the Colin Chapman trophy for teams running normally aspirated engines, and Jonathan Palmer won the equivalent Jim Clark trophy for drivers. This means Johnathan was a World Champion despite never winning a race or even finishing on the podium.

Keke Rosberg meanwhile only won 5 races in his F1 career, with 4 of these being after he had won the World Championship....

Some facts about one of the greatest legends in f-1... Andrea de Cesaris:

-In 1986 and 1987, he saw the chequered flag only 2 times in 16 starts.;

-In '87, it was 12 DNF in a row!!!;

-Between 1985 and 1986 de Cesaris got a sequence of 18 abandonments;

-He did not finished 63% of his races (134 DNFs out of 214 starts);

-The man also holds the record of most entries without a single win.

What else can be said about the most efficient chicane of all times???

Mika Hakkinen, in the season 94-97, used to carry a "good luck mascot" with him in his car, a small fluffy toy tortoise. However, he was often characterised by his bad luck. Prior to the final race of the 1997 season, in Jerez, his McLaren team mechanics took matters into their own hands, and ceremonially burned the tortoise. The following day, Mika won his first race, and then went on to win the Championship the very next year!

Graham Hill did that too. As far as I'm aware, they're the only two drivers to ever have done it.

This is what it says on the VHS 1996 review, anyway..

Toyota have hurled approximately $400 million at F1 every year since their arrival in 2002. That means 5 full seasons totalling nearly £2 billion! Add to this they have yet to score a victory and only have 6 podiums to their name. So with some maths, you can see that it has costed toyota about $330 million per podium finish.

I find this incredible really! An absolute waste of money in my opinion...and can you safely say that their arrival in F1 has sold more road cars?

One of the most spectacular (reliably so, unlike Nico so far), and under-rated drivers in the history of the sport in my opinion. Great guy, great driver, and just permanently flat out. His driving in the closing stages of the 1985 Kyalami race (having spun down the field after being the first to hit some oil) was just breath-taking.

Sorry, no facts there, just thought I'd bring some memories forward :D

Yeah Keke was a great driver, he didn't suit the turbo cars too well because he liked to go flat out all the time and the turbos didn't.

Jenson Button was born on 19th January 1980 in Victoria Hospital, Park Road, Frome.

Damon Hill was once a motorcycle courier

Murray walker used to drive a tank

Adrian Newey used to design CART cars with March Indycar team

Pointing your browser to [www.f1jordan.com] still takes you to a webpage - the team that once was Jordan - Spyker!

Eddie Jordan is a fan of Coventry City football club and has been looking into taking it over

Craig Pollock used to work as a Teacher and became a director of sport at College Beausoleil in Villars, Switzerland.

I think that should keep you all going for now.

Think he meant same GP in 2 consecutive events - as in the Aussie GP was the last of '95, and the first of '96 :)

In a street course race like the monaco grand prix, the downforce provides enough suction to lift manhole covers.

He did not only win Monaco, but also the GP at Nürburgring Nordschleife, so you could say he has a quadruple crown - something that will never happen again.

Not really that interesting to anyone i guess, but spyker are having DHL as a sponsor and my mate at DHL situated at Donington has been put in charge of organising the photo shoot and tv advert for the promotion of the sponsorship deal.

He says he's gonna get me loads of freebies that come his way.

Shame it isnt Williams ;)
