Yeah.. was just reading through some old stuff and apparantly there was a team in 1990 called Life that set a lap time of, wait for it... SEVEN MINUTES around Imola. Thats 5 minutes off the pace. Then they pulled out. Has anyone got any pictures?

I'm intruigued.

Hahaha. Excellent.

It reminds me of when I went to this motorshow a few years ago, there was an Indian Jeep, and the logo was the Ford bagde with a back to front F, and the gearstick broke off during a public "display".

Ace.

Hehe, fantastic read. Though am I the only one who wishes we had more things like this in F1 nowadays? (Except without the serious safety defects) - i.e. eccentric privateers 'having a go' with no hope of success? It adds character!

I does, IMO safety has gone over the top and ruined F1. There are too few teams, and I'm sick of people on TV saying "he was lucky not to be injured" when he hit the wall at 50Mph. How was he lucky exactly?

Times have changed.

ok so I dug up an old thread... lol... I do have a question regarding this tho (kinda)

I heard somewhere that the FIA got rid of the 46 million$ Deposit for new teams, to get a few more into the frey. Is this true?

And why would they do that if they also limit the field to 12 teams, or 24 cars?

30 cars.. anyone who can break 107% could qualify.. that would be my rules if i was Bernie/Max/whoever...

NASCAR with 43 cars is too extreme... but F1 is at the opposite end with 20 (now 22) cars.

You cant have more cars because the tracks cant take it. Not enough facilities

There are too few teams

Rubbish. 24 car limit, we have 22, with McLaren and Toyota looking at 2nd teams, Eddie Irvine and ProDrive looking at there own teams. F1 is healthier than its been in a long long time.
