Alonso to Mclaren for 2007!!!

if he's not at Mclaren in 07 where else could Montoya end up? Cant see him at either Ferrari or Renault. The next best choice would be Toyota or RBR. I could picture him in either of those two...Anythings possible I guess after this Alonso move.

not being funny but just cause his name is jpm does not mean he has an automatic right to be in f1. I know he would find a seat but there are alot of young drivers at the mo that are showing they have what it takes.

People like fissi, jpm, webber, rs, etc need to get the results in 2006 of they could well find themselves in weaker teams or even out of f1.

Stories at the mo say kimi did sign for ferrari but the contract is only if MS retires. Dont know if these means he did not want to go if MS was still there or MS did not want him to be his team mate. EIther way if MS does not leave at the end of 2006 kimi is not going there.

Maybe, just maybe, Kimi isn't as pathetic and melodramatic as most people on this forum - and he'd welcome the chance to drive alongside Alonso.

Kimi really doesn't strike me as someone who would shy away from a challenge over who's the better driver. There's no good reason why he shouldn't accept him as a team-mate.

i think he will stay at mclaren and that it will all be anounced in the new year, early in the year that is and before the start of the season

Bernie Ecclestone hit out at McLaren team Principal Ron Dennis on the way he handed Alonso's signing for the 2007-season. The F1 boss thinks Dennis could have handed the situation on a better manner.


"It reminds me of when I ran the Brabham F1 team. In the summer of 1977 I contacted Niki Lauda at the Italian Grand Prix and offered him a drive for the season after," Ecclestone told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Lauda excepted my offer but I told him: 'Niki, I do not want any problems with Enzo Ferrari. You tell him how things have gone and then we will make the announcement.' And so Lauda did."

"This time it was Alonso dealing with Ron Dennis and leave Briatore out of it. I know how things have gone, but I cannot reveal the details. On top of that Ron Dennis is Briatore's worst enemy, he spited him by exposing things publicly in order to make it difficult for him."

I really think this has taken every team and everyone else by shock. But have to agree its been anounced very early and could have waited a bit

Briatore will not be Alonso's manager anymore after next year because Alonso want his father to be his manager and also because Briatore takes 40-50 % from Alonso's salary.

I dont think BMW were rather neutral in regards to Montoya. It was rather the headhoncho's at Williams who were unimpressed with Montoya. But I wouldve thought BMW were they kind of team who'd rather give drivers from their own junior Formulae's a chance rather than someone like Monty who's not exactly the easiest person to please.
Thats just my take it on, he could end up there for all we know.

Let me tell you something, if you sign a guy who's been in F-1 for so long and doesn't perform with the best car, then you don't need that....., a driver who needs half the season to get used to the car is someone not talented enough to be in F-1, if that's the case then anybody can get in a f-1 car, especially ocnsidering that they tested on winter for 22000km., that's almost a whole season.....

BMW loves the idea of having two germans on their team...... it wouldn't suprise me if they steal Nico from williams to partner Nick

jpm is agressive, compared to a ride with grandma (alonso) maybe too agressive for the car's health (i have to admit that he has passion for going off-road). And if the guy needs half season to get used to the car well its worth it... he did as good (to not say better) as kimi.

he was close to him only because the car was so easy to drive, even karthikeyan could have done the same job, and still even with the car being as perfect as it was, he couldn't finish the races..

Yeah sure!, they guy won the races, but the ones where kimi had to strat at the back except for brazil, because of the strategies, i bet!
and that's what they know inside Mclaren thatt's why they have him as the third option......,

anyway, a top team don't want a stunt man, they want somebody who can win a championship.

he's sooo overrated, he's another Villeneuve case, except that villeneuve won a championship

i forgot to say.......... just look at Rubens., how close he was to michael when they have the best car, and look at him this year.., he got so trashed!., just the way it happened at Mclaren at the start of the year.., but the car got so perfect that he could get close to kimi, but never match him...

and again...... he couldn't finish races or qualy's (hockem)

that's why mclaren is not impressed with him,

for a guy who's been in f-1 for 5 years, those kind of mistakes are not accepted

even grandma (alonso) at 19 on his first season never made so many mistakes as this guy!

i think its also the shoulder story thats done it but he had a contract so they let him see it out, but jpm in spa, turkey and china (everyone before him missed the drain) affect the constructors championship
