errr. the joke is that dernie is a pretty hopeless engineer according to some people in the paddock so its probably just making fun of him.
P.s. ive seen the williams fron wing from about 1 metre away and it isnt steel!!!

it was the one they were running in silverstone todays horse, since them there has been a test ban, so i doubt they would have done a major job since then, they have had the basic concept of the wing twin keel, extra enforcement since brasil.

Erm... correct me if im wrong, but a steel front wing is a safety hazard, no?

The front wing is a crumple zone like the nose and so steel would not work! If there is some steel in the front wing it must be some small amount.

I think its the nose cone thats subject to the crash test, not the wing. I cant beleive its totally made of steel though

it is. it's a small amout of steel to increase the weight of the wheel to give more front grip.

About the Uranium again :) There was a rumour couple of years ago that ferrari were using U238 (i think) the kind that Nuclear Power Plants dump all over the world cause of its high density. But don't think that was ever proven.

Don't think it they would put in steel. When I had a visit tot he Minardi factory the week before the GP of Imola they showed me (besides the new front wing they were gonna use couple of races later) some sort of very heavy material. Can't think of the name right now but it was really very heavy. So they'll prolly put that in the front wing or near the front end of the car to compensate a bit.

yep.

i dont think they would use steel, when there are other materials that weigh much more oer square inch than steel

The biggest problem williams had was the balance according to an interview with Ralf earlier in this year. If he manages to solve this problem they would be able to spend resources on inproving the car and get faster.

A bit like Adrian Neway did with the new MP4-18 which contains lots of parts you'll see on the Leyton House he designed.
