A team that cheated in Formula One in about 2000

Just wondering,does anyone remember in 2000 when a team got caught for using form of Active suspension? They may have also had a form of traction control.

They were never named and as result of this discovery, which came before the British GP that season, i think, teams were not allowed to run the sensors used for the pit lane limiter off the rear wheels. They were also all forced to remap their engines for some reason or the other.

Does anyone have any idea what team it was?

Quite possibly given how much the FIA love them. I do remember Murry Walker asking Ecclestone what kind of ranking the team held though, and he said mid grid. Whether he was actually telling the truth is obviously another matter.

i think it was benneton actually.

i recall someone telling me that they were using the brake fluid pressure to create a form of traction control. (havent a clue how that would work)

well benetton would be mid-grid..... but ferrari seems the more likely team to be cheating

altho weren't benetton caught cheating sometime when schumacher was there, and he left because of it? or something like that, i don't really remember and i didn't follow f1 much then...

In 1994 (Schuey's first championship) Benetton were caught with a secret "Option 13" which was allegedly a launch control or a traction control, Benetton claimed it was redundant and I think they got a susupended sentence (IIRC Mclaren also got done for something similar). Later in the season at Spa Schuey was disqualified and banned for two more races for having too much plank wear, Benetton claimed it was when he span across a kerb. Also he was bizarrely black flagged at Silverstone for passing Damon Hill (who was on pole) on the formation lap.

I don't think Schumacher left because of that as he stayed on for 1995 and won the championship again.

Benetton were also dq'ed from the 95 brazillian grand prix for fuel irregularites as were williams, although it may have been overturned, i don't remember what the long-term result was

the team got 0 points but the drivers kept theirs
