i was checking Alonso's qualafing results from 2001 in some old mags of mine, the dude is amazing ,in some races he actually Qualafied infront of(Alesi,Fisichella,Button,Brenoldi,Burti).but looking at his team mate's times (Tarso Marquese) he was allways about 6 ot 7 tenthes slower,is realy Fisichella is just another Tarso Marques was.this means there was something wrong at Renault with Fisi,i am not trying to make less of driver from Alonso, but i am realy sad at Fisichella,no way he could have been that bad.

Good that Alonso did so good but the Benneton of Button and Fisichella , the Prost from Alesi ans Burti and the arrows from Bernoldi where slow cars to . You can see from 2 sides , 1. Alonso is just realy fast , 2. Alonso is normal and Tarso is just slow , Alonso is this year world champion so i say 1 .

...And on the same logic, Tarso Marques was a brilliant driver in 1997. One swallow doesn't make a summer. Statistics can be contorted into whatever you want them to be, but at the end of the day no-one cares. Alonso won the title this year, Fisi didn't.

i like fisi also - have stuck up for him in past,

but that defending from kimi in suzuka on the last few laps left some serious doubts in my head

is he mentally strong enough to win the championship?

im not sure anymore

but that does not detract from his skill and speed behind the wheel

Fissi's a strange case, the worse his car is, the better he does.

He's not fast enough, never mind mental strength. He's not as fast as Alonso, Schumacher or Raikkonen. They're drivers who are proven championship winning material.

Fisichella doesn't look like a driver who can grind a victory out, let a lone a championship.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Yeah, anybody remember Hungary 1997? How Hill did so well there was beyond me.

I'm not sure about Fisichella. He's a pretty good driver. With the Jordan at Brazil 2003, he kept it on the road while everyone else went haywire, and eventually came through to win it. Remember that same race Alonso was the one to cause it to eventually be red-flagged. Did he not see the Yellow Flags round that corner.

he saw the flags, but though the accident was behind him, so was happy to continue at full racing speed.

what about Kimi going off the track at the Juncao corner, where Fisi overtook him? does that count towards McLaren loosing the 1-2? or was it all Alonso's fault?
