Thats over $1 BILLION !!!!!

Why would anyone stump up that sort of cash?

And another question:

What happened to the new pit complex that was going to start being built after this years Brit GP? Or have the (corrupt IMHO) BRDC squandered the money on other things!!!! Havent seen much evidence they are actually going to honour the crucial part of Bernie's 5 year deal! So presumably we'll end up next year having the possibility of no 06 GP!!!

Why should they move to Brands Hatch? Overtaking with a F1 car would be impossible. And 600 million to modifie (spelling) a track? You could build a whole new circuit with it.

Silverstone could be set for a £600 million revamp if its owners the British Racing Drivers’ Club can find the right investment partner.

haha. i'm going to buy the moon if i can find the right investment partner :|

bernie: we're axing silverstone!
brdc: we'll invest a squillion this year!
bernie: we'll keep silverstone!
brdc: phew, put away the cheque books for another year.

And 600 million to modifie (spelling) a track?

Thats exactly right. The BRDC are ruining British Mototsport with their incompetent Old Boys network. The problem is that the people that wanted to turn it around couldnt get any support!

I was at Silverstone last month for the BTCC meeting and the place is looking pretty good. Contrary to popular belief, you can see where the money has been invested.

tbh, I love silverstone. If they did up the place, my yearly spot at club bronze area, would have its stones taken away. I NEED THOSE STONES! My fishing chair would be wonky without em under my front legs of the chair :) So BOO! the changes I say ;)

Money has gone into access roads around the track. You no longer need to take a picnic with you while you wait to get in and out. Car parks have now all been tarmaced over after the fiasco that was 2000. New grandstands have and are being put up. You can tell the whole place has had a general "spring clean". But bear in mind, it is still a work in progress.

I agree that the place has had money spent on access. Its much much better than it used to be.

But one of the KEY things the BRDC agreed to in the new deal for the F1 to be held there. Was that they would build a new pits complex.

Jackie Stewart (spit!) even said as much on the TV. But here we are 4 months after the event and no building work whatsoever appears to have been started at Northamptonshire.

The BRDC seem to think they can keep winging it and Bernie will just relent and give in every year. If they (BRDC) dont at least start to do something I can see them loosing the GP forever. Maybe Lord Goldsmith will sort out a London GP.
