I think the reason Mika stayed was he liked Ron something I beleive was formed after the Adelaide crash.

Kimis not Mika. And thats a fact Rons found out to his horror. So I can quite possibly see him going to Ferrari in 07. And you can bet it would smack Ron about something funny to see the Number 1 that Kimi won with McLaren on a Ferrari.

Ferrari havent been crap.

oh yes they have.

Its just that in comparison to previous years it has been poor. Many teams up and down the pitlane would take 3rd in constructors with 1 pole position and a driver lying 4th in the WDC.

minardi, jordan, sauber, red bull would take it gladly
williams, toyota bar would accept it but not be entirely happy
ferrari, mclaren, renault would be disgusted with it.

like albert says, its all relative and this year ferrari have been crap. forgetting usa ferrari are 4th, and their drivers are 4th and 9th with both of them under pressure to keep those shitty positions.

how crap are ferrari?
fom 1994 to 2004 (thats 181 races) ferrari had 4 races where they scored no points, yet finished the race.
in 2005 they've had 4 races where they scored no points, yet finished the race.

average points per race:
1994 - 4.4
1995 - 4.9
1996 - 4.4
1997 - 6.0
1998 - 8.3
1999 - 8.0
2000 - 10.0
2001 - 10.5
2002 - 13.0
2003 - 9.9
2004 - 14.6
2005 - 5.2 (4.4 without USA, or 2.8 using the 10.6.. points sytem without USA)

so in conclusion ferrari have been truly bad this year. and i'm not just bashing ferrari. i like ferrari :)

I don't think it's a great move from Kimi.

You have to remember that before 2000 Ferrari stayed 20 (correct?) years without winning a drivers champ. And after 2006 most Ferrari staff will retire with Michael. Rory Byrne already started his retirement plan, he didn't singed this year car project.

So I don't think they will be the top team by 2007, Ok, they will have the bigest budget, but it was always like that even in 1988, and McLaren won all races but one.

I beg to differ with most here. Ferrari have slid this season, but the problem with Ferrari is not their car, its with the tires. Therefore it will not take many years to recoup it will take probably a couple more races at most. ciao!

but thats the thing... its not just the tires. they themselves know the car is messed..

as some1 sed here.. they used 2004 tyres for Brazil! :\! now what does that tell you about their car?

but still if i were kimi.. i would probably stay.. but ferrari will be back next season or the one after that for sure. they are too good to let what has happended to williams happen to them.

i thing he will go there even if he won the title next year with mclaren
and for the whole talking of the retirement of the ferrari guys like ross
and Rory and jean i don't see it as a big deal
we know they are the best around now but some new faces will come and maybe
some of them in ferrari already or they even can buy them
so when those guys retired it's not gona be the end of ferrari chance of winning
the title i am sure that they can do a good job maybe they will struggle
at the start but they will come back

Anyone who thinks Ferrari's problem is even mainly the tyres is plain ignorant. Just look at how Jordan and Minardi have closed up on them this year.

Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne will retire when michael does in my opinion. Kimi hasnt a hope of building a half as good team im afraid. Kimi hasnt madethe correct choice im afraid

I thought the F2005 was Byrne's last car. (and that he didn't do the design work himself, merely oversaw it)

I'm not sure if Kimi will keep the blue on his helmet if he does end up driving for Ferrari. I suspect he may go more red with it. It'll probably end up like he did for Monaco this year, which was Red and Black (but with Steinmetz diamonds too :) ).
