a) JV was IndyCar and Indy 500 champ before moving to F1
b) Damon Hill was Williams test driver, so obviously impressed Frank enough without a name.

And what about
Jean-Louis Schlesser
Jacques Villeneuve Sr.
Alberto Ascari
Ralph Firman

No, Jacques was Gilles' brother. Tried to qualify for 2 or 3 races, and failed, IIRC. Now he races snowmobiles and Ski-doos

JV didn't raced against Gill and Juan Pablo!!!

And also they are great.

Also Wilson Fittipaldi was already a great driver when went to F1 and his brother wasn't a legend yet!!!

I'm not slating Ascari, I'm just pointing out that he only got his first test for Enzo because of his dad's (Antonio's) career. I'm using it as an example of when a driver get's his break because of his name, yet becomes a legend in his own right. As far as I'm concerned, Ascari jr. was one of the all-time greats, and can be mentioned in the same breath as Fangio, Senna, Clark and Prost

God its a pity you didn't get a seat for Williams that year, you could have thrashed Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve

Can anyone explain to me why on the GP2 racing it shows Rosberg JR as a GERMAN and not a FINN?

he's german thats why. his mum is germnan and he's lived his life in germany.

no one has got into f1 solely because of their name. the name surely opens doors for them, but in horse racing and animal breeding in general pedigree is probably number one consideration, so why not for humans?
if bob has some talent then theres a good chance bob's offspring will have some of it too. and these young named guys have been around racing since they were born.
if anything their name would be a bad thing due to the pressure and expectations it xomes with.
but without it the doors may never have opened for them
