Yeah, i have some funny, curious storys too....I start to watch F1 for real in 1991, and soon, my parents, family and friends realize that I want very badly to watch the races. I become a entusiastic. Among other things I refuse to go to weekends in farm with my parents, to play soccer or whatever with friends, also sometimes distract me of studies, wanting the weekend to come fast...but, luckily none Gf ask me to stop this. After all it´s not so dramatic, you can do other stuffs another time, another weekend. All people want time to do what they like, and that can be listen music, go to the movies, practice sports, travel...or...whatch F1 races!
Anyway...all people that know me...know that during the time of a qualifying, or a race, I´m not go anywhere, and only call me if is to comment on the race, otherwise I´ll not pay much attention.
My friends know this, my parents, despite always complain....they all know that. Watch a F1 race, or even other races it´s one of my favourits programs!!
The only two things that can distract this are a special ask of a Gf, not without a good fight of arguments, like: "we can do this later on, tomorrow, or on the other weekend! don´t be dramatic! only two hours!".LOL. Or, in my case, when I have a real race to compete, since a race Go Karts. Then my race become more important...
Yeah, some curious situations...it´s weird!! But, hey...that´s me, I love motorsports.

All my friends from Uni that I now live with are very understanding about my GP time :) Some of them even offer to watch them with me, despite the fact that I can tell they don't really enjoy it.

I got a severe reprimand from the Union bar though, when the Nurburgring race was on the big screen there. I was suporting Raikkonen, and needless to say when his suspension went on the last lap I threw my drink halfway across the floor... :(

WTF!!

Am i the only vaguely normal person here or something.?

An f1 race is three hours per week and its every other week, hell i like to watch them but i sure as hell aint gonna dump my g/f for them. Plus there are more important things in life than f1 (family, friends, social life, porn)

Im sorry but you really are a bit wierd to leave conscription to watch a friggin f1 race and probably get ye olde soap treatment

man, no wonder the world sucks with people like you around ;-)

[edit] yeah and some girlfriends they must have been if they left you because you wanted to watch one race. either that or they thought you were a complete tit

This is Bloody confusing???? (concerning HakkinenF1)

Anyway, Formula One is mega, but your people are taking it over the top. Its not worth sacrificing your life for! or social life for that matter. Nonetheless, Every september when there is the italian or Belgium gp on I always miss my yearly football tournament first half of the final game. The team knows this and I plan on doing it again this weekend as there is the italian gp on!

I like F1 a lot. If I'm on holiday, I'll try to see the race, but if it's not really possible, I don't mind not seeing it. I work now on Sundays so I don't get a chance to see the GP live.....it's not really that bad, honest! I'd prefer to see them live but I'm not going to lose out on earning money just to watch a GP.

Agreed, we're dedicated fans, not hermits! Although I would NEVER have a disagreement with anyone because I like F1 too much, especially not a special person like a girlfriend.

i dunno, i have been known to get a bit shirty if someone or something tries to get in the way of me watching the race.

Its only 2 hours every other week, i will always plan around the race.

it has been more difficult this year with sp many back to back races though. only missed one, Canada, as i was going on holiday. managaed to see the first 5 laps though in the airport bar!!!! Girlfriend was not amused!

I watch F1 since 87 and I really want to see all the races, this year I missed one, the Hungarian GP, my brothers and my sister had a presentation (is it right, I mean, they where going to present a comunity work they did to a bunch of people) in my church. For sure I would see them, so I recorded the race and watched it later.

My main problem is that F1 here in Brazil when the race is Europe the race starts at 9am and we go to church at this time, but I don't go when it have races.

But you know, F1 is just some weekends, not all of them, it won't make much difference to watch all the races.

Also I don't have problems with friends and girlfriends about F1 or racing in general, some friends even like to watch the races with me for me to talk with them during the race. Also somethimes people come to my house to watch IRL or F1 when it's not in Europe, so we make popcorn and stuff.

I don't think racing have any problems with my life.

On Saturday I work, but in the qualify time I go to the TV room, and watch it, Saturday is pretty calm here, so no problems with it, even the guys that work with me comes also so we talk about it during qualify.

The only thing that I'm don't like is the thing that the calendar is getting to big. 16 to 20 races are ok to a year, but when the races are in the following weekends then I think it gets bored, also I don't live with my family during the weekdays, so I miss stay more with them during those following weekends.

I think the 17 races schedule is the best one, I read that even the F1 reporters got bored this year.

most of the fights were with my father(befor we had the sconde TV) because u know he is as much of the dads,a news watching man, seirus talk shows and stuff,i like watching newsand talk shows, but not during the gp!.he gets very angry with me even during the race, like when Schumi reitred in Brazil in 2003 , i jumped ,screamed, laughed, kicked every think that came in my face,i think if i video taped my self doing that ,i will also hate me,
and yes the gps are too many,in my fist f1 year,i wanted a race every day,
but now i realy feel exhuasted, tow races in tow weeks, like when i missed the Hungarian Qualifing, andcaught up with it in the last 5 mins,i wasn't angry because i missed it,i was angry because it was in that weekend,i was like
(oh not again, not in this weekend ).
