Ron Dennis and Norbert Haug always wanted Juan Pablo in their team, even when he was Williams test driver in 97. They waited almost 8 years, and i remember Ron Dennis saying "I've waited for him a long time, and i'll keep on waiting untill i can make him a world champion".

About the flat spots, it's stupid that we're discussing this...All you want is to hear Kimi is the best driver in the world, and i won't deny it, he's quite a good driver, maybe the best right now, but not by far

that´s my opinion too sega , only that kimi is taking more advantage , or using it better
the difference between them is that kimi's using his brain, while he is driving; juan is quick as hell, no one will deny that, but if he really wants to become the champion, he has to learn to make us of his head. raikkones does that, and - maybe even more than him - alonso.

It's easy to use the head when

a)there's a comfortable points gap

b)a driver seems(to me) to have more confidence in the car

Montoya fastest as testing continues in Monza

On Wednesday most of the Formula One teams joined Ferrari, who started testing in Monza on Tuesday already. Juan Pablo Montoya was the fastest man on track. Olivier Panis tried out the V8 at Toyota, but the engine didn't make it until the end of the day unfortunately.
Although the McLaren team did set the fastest time of the day their day wasn't without any problems. De la Rosa suffered from gearbox problems in the morning so Alexander Wurz couldn't take over testing duties from the Spaniard after lunch. Later in the afternoon the team did manage to solve the problem so Kimi Räikkönen could begin with his testing duties. It didn't last for long though, after five laps the gearbox failed again.

Tomorrow testing continues. The Minardi team will also join in.

Looks like now its the gearbox turn to fail...

Pedro in Turkey, now again in Italy, Kimi twice in a day. :S

Nah...maybe they're looking how much they can take from their gearbox, so it's better they fix it now, and not having the problem on the race weekend

I don't think jpm is at the same pace as kimi.., the only reason he's close to him is because the car is amazingly good.., every time jpm is fast on the track he ends up making mistakes..., mclaren has loose many 1-2's because of him.., i wonder how good his mclaren was that even without the diffuser he end up on alonso's ass., or was it really his mistake, what cost him 2nd place?, if he drives like that without the diffuser then with it, he should be 1 sec faster than kimi's pace.., so i really doubt the diffuser got any damage

ps: yeah!., ron dennis always wanted to have him as well as he always wanted david coulthard...

jpm will win the monza gp.,l but please.., don't arse 'bout it.., that won't repair his season

The diffuser may have only been slightly damaged, but not knowing about it would be enough to put you off the road at turn 8 even if its only a small reduction in downforce. Once he knows about it he can adapt and its not surprising he got right upto Alonso because he would have been livid and going for it (in a much faster car) wheras Alonso would have known there was no way Monty was getting past so would be taking it easy relatively.

Pic from Monza test - looks like Montoya's got his old helmet back. :D
