So,

Massa to replace Barrichello at Ferrari

I predict....

Sauber (with BMW engines) will want a German, so will sign Heidfield

This leaves a spot at Williams, filled by Jenson Button

And Barrichello takes the spot at BAR

What ya reckon?

well those are all pretty much a given now...but who will partner Heidfeld at BMW Racing is what I'm curious to know? Liuzzi? I hope not...I'd rather it be someone like Ant Davidson. I reckon he and Quick-Nick would make quite a good combo at BMW

Bmw will probably have some young proteges under their wing that want to bring through.

If there is a decent Germanic rookie out there somewhere BMW will want them on the team....

I reckon Davidson will have a drive somewhere next year (Hopefully BAR) although if Button somehow manages to stay at BAR I think Davidson will be off to Williams.
I also hope Klien will stay at Red Bull because I just don't rate Luizzi, and I don't think Villeneuve will stay with BMW

I reckon Davidson will get the BAR drive. Honda wanted Taku when they were supplying engines, but running your own team is different.

Honda are a serious corporation, just as are Toyota. They won't run a Japanese driver just because they're a Jappanese compapny, if they believe Davidson to be better. I, personally, think he is.

Villeneuve already has a contract with Sauber next year, whether they change their name to BMW or whatever. So it'll most likely be Heidfeld partning him.

Why would Sauber want a German? They are a Swiss. If anything BMW will want a German, but Heidfeld already said that he won't be chosen automatically. The one thing BMW wants is success and the nationality of the driver is completely secondary.

I think Heidfeld is good enough, very much underrated. He's had crap machinery every year apart from 2001.

how long will Peter Sauber be in the team? when will they 'do a Jordan' and get rid of the guy who started the team?

He will be there for all of 2006 in an advisory position.
I personally feel they will chuck JV.
Davidson hasnt proven anything to anyone rlly anyone can be a fast friday driver, i doubt he is anything special tbh.

Davidson has'nt yet proven himself in a competitive enviroment, we've heard him big himself up in tv interviews when he was BAR's 3rd driver on fridays and been on zero fuel load and subsequently topped the timesheets.
In race condition he has yet to finish a gp

Given that BAR have a Japanese engine supplier and 45% share holder i'd be more inclined to think they'd adopt the BMW approach and get a native driver on board

I think the team will be completely rebranded next year and be known as BMW Racing or something like that. It wont be known as Sauber anymore. Heidfeld and Villeneuve could be a possibility I guess since JV still has a year left on his contract. but then again, if Rubens is leaving Ferrari with a year still left on his contract then JV certainly can leave Sauber too...

why get a german? f1 is well established in germany and the name BMW is probably bigger than that of Heidfeld.

i'd sy next year will be ferrari v. mclaren for top spot.
renault, toyota will be quite a distance behind them
bar, bmw, williams, redbull will be a little further back
and midland, minardi will be where they belong.

so basically there'll be 4 seats worth having - and they are already filled.
driving for bmw or williams will mean you'll have a good chance of 15th if you're not careful.

toyota will take hiedfeld
ralf will go to bmw

Renault
1 - Fernando Alonso
2 - Giancarlo Fisichella / Mark Webber

Mclaren
3 - Kimi Raikkonen
4 - Juan-Pablo Montoya

Ferrari
5 - Michael Schumacher
6 - Felipe Massa

Toyota
7 - Jarno Trulli
8 - Nick Heidfeld

Williams
9 - Mark Webber / Giancarlo Fisichella
10 - Jenson Button

BAR
11 - Rubens Barrichello
12 - Takuma Sato

Red Bull
14 - David Coulthard
15 - Christian Klien

BMW
16 - Ralf Schumacher
17 - Nico Rosberg

Midland
18 - Tiago Monteiro
19 - Heikki Kovalainen

Minardi
20 - ?
21 - ?

Good point. He has a little column in the back of F1 Racing where they preview the upcoming tracks on the F1 calender. His typical "insight" is something like "Oh yeah, there are one or two good turns, but the track's rubbish".

This month his preview, speaking of the Hugaroring, was "Sure, a couple of good corners but that all." WOW! Such expertise. IF the tracks are such a breeze for him I wonder why he's still a third driver!

These BAR drivers need to get a grip on reality and lose the attitude. We all saw what "Ant" did at Malaysia. BTW, F1 Magazine rates him 23rd out of 24 drivers in F1. The only guy they rated him higher than was Patrick Friesacher!

the thing is that the current crop of f1 drivers is dismal. statistically it must be one of the worst fields since 1950 (excluding schu of course)
without schu theres 1 champ, 1 championship, and about 6 winners with about 40 victories in all.
schumacher has hogged the stats in the last decade which doesnt leave much for the others.

and even forgeting stats, its pretty poor.
the wonderkids today - button, weber, massa, hiedfeld, fisichella, trulli - have done bugger all to prove themselves.
even kimi, alonso & monty still have a lot to do to cement their places.
