The 2005 British Grand Prix ***SPOILER THREAD***

its not about the teams being anywhere near london, its about security.

assuming it goes ahead tho, im gonna put my bets on raikkonen and montoya, a one two for mclaren, provided they suffer no reliability problems...

they cant cancel the grand prix those damn terrorists they cant do it.

Its not just one set of emergency services though.

Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire Police will, im sure, provide the same level of security as they ever would have done. tbh I cant see how the GP is anymore of a target than any other GP.

Due to the voting system in Germany, Governments are always made up of coalitions of different parties. At the last election, an almost unprecidented result saw the CDU/CSU (rough equivilant of the Conservatives) go into Government with the SPD (rough equivilant of Labour)

They drove right after 9-11 at Monza, which was a much larger attack, and many times more scary and unsettling because none of us knew what this meant, or where things could happen again.

I can't see the GP being cancelled, and as far as I am concerned, it isn't until I see an official statement that tells me otherwise.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

From F1racing.net:

Increased safety precautions at Silverstone

The organisers of the British Grand Prix will come up with stronger safety measures while preparing for the race on Sunday. This comes as a result of today's explosions in the centre of London. Immediately, the operators in Silverstone reacted to the attacks on the capital and discussed measures with the police in a crisis meeting. A statement will be issued later today.

"Of course we are warned and will do everything that is possible for safety. However, there is no reason to panic," Silverstone spokesman John Hurton said. The Grand Prix is this weekend's largest event in Great Britain. The 11th race of the year has been sold out for weeks, around 100,000 spectators are expected at the track.

ok cool well lets hope its goes ahead.

But remember they raced at monza, monza is in italy not the usa.
I think there are no reason to cancel the GP
It affects the people who bought tickets

Just Like US GP
In 2001,they didn't cancel even the 911 incident happened
This Year, they didn't cancel even just 6 cars participate the race

Hope British GP will host without any dangerous

yes mean event sorry :)
The only thing that could cancel the GP, could be the fear of fans for going to the circuit

C'mon...I live in country where war is the bread of every day, and what you're saying is just terrifying people. Now, for history, an terrorist attack like that, doesn't repeat as easy, and it's going to be the same there, it would take too much time to happen again, if it happens again, and i hope it doesn't.

Edit: sorry for double-posting

They better run the British GP!!!

After the US "faux prix", the last thing F1 needs to have a major sporting spectacular cancelled (or a 6 car race).

As regards Silverstone security....hmmm i remember a few years go where some maniac was running up Hangar Straight as cars were approaching...if it happened before, it COULD happen again.

The last thing we all want is someone to sneak into the commentator's booth and explode a bomb under James Allen's chair!
