The latest proposal is out

I wonder if GP2 will have to be "scaled down" at the risk of it becoming the faster series?;-)

GP2 will be altered so that it closely resembles a Ford Fiesta championship, I'm sure. And the way it's going, F1 will be consist of Minis within a decade.

Looks a very good proposal for the majority of it.

- Slick tyres
- One tyre manufacturer
- increased car width (pre-1998 stylee again???)
- no more winglets, barge boards etc.
- decreased downforce on the car even more
- manual gearbox
- no tyre heaters and smaller engines and no spare car to keep costs down for smaller teams

etc etc etc.

Some of it sounds good to me, especially getting rid of traction control, reducing aero to 10% of what we have now and a single tyre company. Innovation will come in new forms than just crazy winglets ,flip-ups and stupidly expensive and unreliable gearboxes.

so lets go back.. 11 years ago ;) (2k8 slogan)
sounds nice but surely bigger teams will blame what they will call "11yr money waste"

----------------------------

Just note USA doesn't like F1 (since 1981)

Hungarian GP, 1997. Last laps just when damon's problems had just begun:
(Louise Goodman has just reported that Damon Hill was on the radio with Tom Walkinshaw)
Murray: "How do they do that, Martin? How does a man talk calmly and especially to his team boss, when Damon in the situation he's in?"
Martin: "Well, you press a little button on the steering wheel and start talking, Murray. There's a little speaker in the front of your crash helmet...";)

I think rules must stay as they are...problems always appears on first times, but with the time you'll learn about them, I'm sure any of us is going to be happy, for example if some extra rules are added for next year. That's just for experience. A good example was the first qualy of this year, it caused a lot of expectation, but then everybody was like "...I'm not sure about it"

These appear to be on the right track for making interesting racing

wether or not the teams will agree is a different matter...........

GEARBOXES
- All cars will be fitted with gear ratios, final drive ratios and differentials which have been manufactured by an FIA designated supplier to an agreed specification
- Gear changing will only be permitted by the use of a manually operated mechanical linkage to the gearbox
- Clutches will only be operated via a foot pedal connected mechanically to a release mechanism

Reasons
- to restore control over the clutch and gear changing to the driver
- the use of standard gearbox internals will result in a very significant reduction in expenditure

BODYWORK
- Downforce will be reduced to approximately 10% of current levels
- Drag will be maintained at current levels
- Overall car width will be increased
- By stipulating maximum and minimum dimensions cars will be
