I used to love the fun, crazy attitude that Jordan used to bring to the paddock, it was almost worth going to a GP just to chat with the mechanics and their pit girls. But then Jordan started underperforming and the fun attitude seeped out :(. Now it's run by a Russian, with very little sense of humour, and drivers who aren't exactly the jokers in the pack.

So how happy I am to see Red Bull emerging as the new "Big Personality" team in the paddock! Christian Horner is a genuinely friendly bloke, and as we saw on the ITV preview show, DC, Klien and Tonio all seem to be getting along like a house on fire.

I really hope they stick with that ethos - all they need to do now is put on a bit of a show for us guys on the street who pop down to the races occasionally, and they've got my support.

Has anyone else noticed this, or agree / disagree?

I agree about the Jordan bit, you could see the spirit ebbing out when the car liveries became more and more dull, I think things went wrong after 1999, Eddie Jordan must have become more concerned with pushing the team forward after such a good season, and lost sight of the spirit that put the team there in the first place. Also when he cancelled the team Christmas party in 2000 or 2001 it seemed very un Jordan-like.

The blow for Jordan was Honda. They should have never went for those engines, right from when BAR had them, i knew it was pointless. They were shite engines also, and it is only recently that BAR have performed with improvements with Honda.

It is very interesting to see Red Bull being the big personality team considering their old allies, Sauber were very boring.

Sauber annoy me. You say they're sensible - that sounds boring too. They seem to define mediocre. I read an article in Autosport a few weeks back that had an interview with Peter Sauber. It seemed to completely lack ambition. It was along the lines of:

'Maybe we'll do better in the future when the big manufacturers drop out possibly maybe, but until then I'm quite happy being where I am.'

That type of talk in motorsport doesn't interest me in the slightest. Glad Red Bull have gone out on their own. The Sauber ethos doesn't really tie in with what the Red Bull brand stands for.

Thoughts....?

After Adelaide '94 I stopped liking Michael Schumacher. I was finally beginning to think maybe old Michael wasn't so bad when.......

Oh dear.

Bradude, great sig ;-).

I liked how Toyota was. They had extra things on the paddock for the crowd, and the mechanics had good charisma. They were joking with the Minardi guys, who are nice people too :). I won't mention the top teams simply because they don't deserve. Ferrari was nice though, was a great time by their garage, but then you think "do they really mean it?..."

I think Peter Sauber is mostly a good team owner, but he says the worst things in interviews, completely destroying the idea I always got from him :-o. Jaguar had the donkey thing, which was superb :), so Red Bull may just keep going with the atmosphere... Christian Klien has my support ever since he came in to F1 (he was born the day before my birthday also ;)), and it should be a fun season :).

Its like the midtable premiership football teams with no aspirations to succeed, being in the premiership is enough and they happy to be there, thats what i have always thought about Sauber

i think Peter is 1 of the best. He gives a christmas bonus to EVERY employer, no matter how bad they do :D

whats the point of that then??? by giving a bonus to everyone no matter how bad they do will just make them happy to plod along midfield. they'll think "hell, we get a bonus at christmas whatever results we get, so why should we try harder?".

Well......... it was either Honda or Peugeot , either way Jordan would have been screwed.

But with Honda they were forced to let Heinz-Harald go, so Takucrasher Sucko could come in!

Fun they are... wacky though? The team seem to have gelled well through pre-season, and DC seems more relaxed than I can remember... which I think will be a good thing for him! He'll be faster on-track for it.

Does enyone remember Jordan GP2, a great team that used to take part of sim-racing competition (LFRS, GP2Championship, some TOCA leagues and Nascar also).

They had a brilliant web site, all yellow that was pretty much better than Jordan ones. Their web site was www. jordangp2.com (while Jordan F1 were www.jordangp.com).

So one day they called the team owner and said he should change his domain, site color and etc... The team owner said it was a tribute team and he was a true Jordan fan. So Jordan said he could use the name Jordan GP2, but he should change his domain and don't use yellow, even in his cars.

So he created another team, Quiksilver, and it has been racing since this with that name.

I know that Eddie Jordan never knew about that, it was a stupid lawyer (is my spelling correct?) of Jordam team that made all this fuzz.

I think it was mid 2000 when this happened but everyone in sim-racing world got shocked that time.

Does enyone remember this?

See you,
