They fitted steel brakes for Zanardi at Monza didnt they? Then he went and stuck it on 4th on the grid. That aint that bad to me

thats true, yes, he did struggle, but look at mansell, he was probably 40 odd when he returned from CART and despite the substancial changes to the cars was pretty much on the pace after france

This might only show that thre is still a difference between a Manselll and a Zanardi.

Even if Zanardi stuck it on 4th on the grid at Monza the old saying is still true "one swallow does not make a summer". Regard it as the exception that proves the rule.

Fantastic reading! I wonder if the people above realise that this topic was written in 2003?

It just goes to show, the members of this forum have a knowledgeable interest in the lower / alternative racing formulae and are good at highlighting talented drivers several years in advance.

I myself don't pay much attention to the lower categories, in fact I completely missed last season's GP2 championship. It'd be interesting to ask of all you knowledgeable boffs out there: who's on their way to F1 in the next few years who we should look out for? :)

You never know, in another 5 years we can dig up this topic again and see if you were right!

I'd love to see Adam Carroll in there, he's been fantastic for us in A1 GP this year and is showing a lot of promise.

Can't say that I follow the junior formulae that much either. I used to get Autosport regularly, but it became too expensive to be getting it all the time, so I stopped.

Bruno Senna, Romain Grosjean, Vitaly Petrov and Brendon Hartley. Also, it might be a few years down the road yet, but Esteban Gutierrez is looking very promising.

Pretty accurate thread this one, looking at the earlier posts. Especially all posts except one about Lewis.

Hulkenberg (along with Rosberg) are the ones to keep an eye out in years to come!

Rosberg already, but we know that :P

He is BMW bound! (or Mclaren, whoever scoops first pickings!)

Worth to keep an eye on Mirko Bortolotti, impressed many on his test for Ferrari, been snapped up by Red Bull as their next wonderkid.

Due to race in F2 this year. Against a hash up of sons of former F1 drivers, including Alex Brundle, Jaylon Palmer, Henry Surtees... should pwn them all.

Apart from that, would like to see Paul di Resta get his chance.

Apparently he did okay in Ginettas, think he's signed up to do Formula Ford this year.

i watched a few races on m&m and he had speed. but it was his first year racing cars i think... but he looks to have speed, whether or not quick enough to get in F1 we'll see.
