OK time for a debate.

1. State ur favourite team and Why.

2. State reason why the team is better than the rest.

3. If u r a ferrari fan, plz don't post. :P

(me)
1. Jaguar, Webber is an Auzzie. and the car is GREEN!
2. Jaguar had to endure Eddie Irvine for 2 season, don't you think that deserves alot of credit since Eddie Irvine is a Crazy Git :P

(Can u belief that eddie irvine said jaguar was a bunch of idiots?!?!)

1. Team McLaren Mercedes (currently)
any McLaren based team (all time favourites)

I started watching F1 in the mid seventies and have always liked the team. I really became a huge fan when Niki Lauda won his third title on a McLaren Porsche in 1984.

I have also always liked spending my holidays in Finland and Scotland and Mercedes is my favourite street car, so over the last few years this team has just been perfect for me.

2. I don't know if they are better than the rest - the last Championship has been a while ago - but maybe because nobody is as amiable as Ron Dennis. I love his way to talk.

(Isn't 1 and 2 basically the same question? Anyway, I would never support a team or a driver only because we have the same nationality)

btw Swerve was with Jag for 3 seasons (2000-2001-2002)

1. State ur favourite team and Why.

Jaguar by a long shot - and i honestly have nfi why :| I used to support Stewart (Johnny Herbert) and i suppose i just carried on with Jag coz of that. I do however have an immense love of all things Jaguar, and i wouldn;t suppport any other team (altho i do hope McLaren do well). Probably coz they are British (of sorts) and wehn they came in they had to British Drivers (i'm very patriotic ya see)

2. State reason why the team is better than the rest.

Coz of the name, the motorsport history, the prestige and the Green paintwork.

1. Now Mclaren (Because the great livery and always a team who fight for the podium)

A few years ago i like the Lotus team, in the John Special days (Those gold and black colors...)

I like Coulthard, because like Damon Hill, he his a Gentlman driver (!!!!!!!!!!!) and truly hard working.

2. I don't think Mclaren it's better than the rest (they all have my respect) but it's the one i like the most.

1. Mclaren, Ayrton senna drove for them for most of his F1 career. i started
watching F1 in 1991 (hey i was 8 or something i watched every race to)
when he was winnning.

2. read above :)

Vader wrote... "Anyway, I would never support a team or a driver only because we have the same nationality"

i have to ask why?

Im an aussie and seeing an aussie in formula one is the greatest thing
in my opinion! i dont know about other places but it seems that we
aussies get behing other aussies when it comes to international level!

1. Mclaren. Started watching F1 in 1989 and loved Senna and have always supported them since then.

2. They are fair and let both drivers race. Just look at Brazil would u have seen Rubins going passed MS like Kimi did to DC.

1) Mclaren - got into F1 back in 88 and became a Senna fan immediately

2) not sure if they are the best but I've admired the team in that they are usually in the title hunt...love Ron's business skills (got Senna, got Honda power from Williams, got Mercedes Benz buy in, got TAG from Williams pay for the Porsche engines & become a partner, got McLaren from the previous owners via Marlboro) btw his lingo isn't bad either ;-)

Maybe it is just a typical German problem that we have with nationality and patriotism after WWII, maybe it is just me. Nationality doesn't mean **** to me. Look, I was born in West Germany. If I had been born only 150 km more to the East, I had grown up in East Germany, which used to be a socialistic dictatorship. Now take a map of he world and look what 150 km are. Nothing. So why care about nationality if it is just a matter of luck where you have been born. How can I be proud of my country when I did nothing to be born there? I can count myself lucky to live here and not somehwere else, but pride ... Sorry, I can only be proud of something I have done myself.

Same goes for F1 drivers: If someone is good I don't care where he comes from. If he sucks, he does suck no matter if he is from country or not. I judge people but what they are doing, not where they come from.

Taken to the international level, there is nothing more embarrasing than meeting a fellow German abroad.

Fav team : JORDAN :)

why? : well im Irish and it matters to me where i come from :). Ive followed F1 since 1995 and i like supporting the underdogs. Fissi was always my fav driver and when he left jordan to go to benneton i was shattered. 2 years ago when i heard he had signed a 3 year contract with jordan, to put it mildly i went wild (6). also the jordan team are probably the team that bring the most colour and atmosphere to the paddock. sometimes things are too serious and we need somebody to bring things to life and give this sport a bit of emm well.... sport. it has become far too commercial.

Vader,

In January 2001 i stay a month in south of Germany (Baviera!!!), in a work program.

It's very strange for me look at the TV and everything is in German (EX: see a Chinese Film were the actors speak in German :-) )

The german guys i've been working with don't speak two words of English without stop for a while to think in the right words.

I think Germans are truly patriots...

And i remember quite well to see a lot of Wallpapers with M. Schumacher and Ferrari.

Firstly to the point

1. Sauber, dont know why, just liked them

2.

Advantages:

1. Almost family based
2. Litts money, but done well

Disadvantages :
1. Swiss ;)

------------------

On to the thing about patriotism, i have to agree that what Vader says is quite common, i dont know many germans that are very patristic (that a word??) On the other hand it is true that many support M.S. But if you think about it, Patriotism can be classified in many different ways. For example at the world cup period, there were probably more turkish flags flying in germany than german ones and you dont get all the "Im british and proud" sense in germany. But tradition is still rather strong (i think, vader can correct me if im wrong) as you look around and, especailly in bavaria, much beer and wurst is eaten. Theres a patriotism, but not so outward.

*waits for point to be proven wrong*

Sauber, dont know why, just liked them

That's unusual! The only reason I say that is because I just never really see anybody supporting Sauber :S They seem to be on a middle ground, a quiet team that just gets on with it and doesn't seem to attract much support on the face of it! Personally I also think they're a fantastic team. Plus, Frentzen is one of my favourite drivers and Heidfeld is bloody good too, so I love to see them doing well.

You are right Chris. Only the word is patriotic, not patristic.

Anyway, X-Acto, there is a big difference between Bavaria and the rest of Germany. Bavaria is different, they regard themselves as a nation on its own right, so it is Bavaria they are proud of and not Germany. COme to the North where I live and you will find people who are little more relaxed.

On the subject of movies being dubbed - it is rather convinient than a sign of patriotism. It is not because we dontlike people to speak Chinese or Englöish in our cinemas or on TV. It is just much easier to follow a movie if you don't have to read subtitles.

As far as I remember you are from Portugal, X-Acto. I believe there are not less Germans that speak English than people in your country who do it. After all we all learn it in school as first foreign language.

If people in Germany think they have support Schumacher ebcause he is German it is fine with me. I just think the argument is weak. Would you say _Alex_ is no real Brit because he supports a German driver and does not rate Hill?

Looking at the history of mankind I believe nationalism is the reason that started most wars. If we could all overcome it, something like in Yugoslawia wouldn't have been possible.

I suppose why i like webber is because he is Auzzie, and i am Auzzie but u guys have to remember that Auzzies seem to very patroitic when it comes to sport as we seem to be good all all sports :P

I don't hate germans, they r good drivers but it seems that due to WW2, the world seems to walk away from germany.

anywayz, Minardi is my snd fav team - why? well all good drivers seem to have drove for Minardi when they start F1, for example MARK WEBBER, FERNANDO ALONSO, GEANCALO FISICHELLA (dunno spelling) + others that i forgot.

anywayz, can i ask if arrows we ever make a return :( i used to lub that team.

Vader,

I Really don't know how is the rest of Germany.

I'm Portuguese, and my country isn't the best country in the world....
I'm not that patriotic as well.

But, of course i love enough my country, and i don't see nothing wrong with it, despite a huge part of the population didn't seak english or any other language than the Portuguese...

All i think is that is normal we support a national driver, team or track, like we did in other sports.

Like i already said i support Coulthard and i think he isn't Portuguese ;-)))))
