Right, let me get this straight, has any country confirmed a new grand prix for 2004 yet, and if not, who is in the running for it? And if so many countries are looking for one, why does germany get two?

Cynical answers allowed

Shanghai is in, A1-Ring out for 2004. Spa may also be invited back (pleeease, Max!).

And expect to see Turkey there in 2005.

And possibly a Russian Grand Prix in 2006, although it's looking unlikely now.

Germany don't 'officially' get 2 races. The one at the Nurburgring is (for reasons best known by Bernie) called the European GP, though i'm not sure why. It was also called the Luxembourg GP a couple of years ago. Germany haven't always hogged it, though - in 1993 the European GP was held at Donington Park, and in the early 80's the British GP was held at Silverstone and the European GP was at Brands Hatch. I think that only happened for one year though. Italy also sort of have 2 GP's, at Monza and Imola - the track at Imola is actually miles away from San Marino! Also, i seem to remember in the 70's there being 2 United States GPs, called East and West.
There, that's a little bit of history for y'all. you may post to point out my mistakes! :P

the prblem with bahrain is this sodding conflict in the middle east. that may be a problem.

but we can expect:

bahrain
china
russia

to host gps in the not to distance future - (i think)

The title of the European Gp has been moved around the calender:

Donington,
Brands Hatch,
Jerez and
Nurburgring

About the Imola circuit being based in Italy and still labelled as the San Marino GP. It was labelled the Italian Gp in 1980 though.

I remembered one season in the early 1980s that USA got three GPs!!

I think it was at Long Beach and I can't remember the other two circuits.

EDIT>> it was at Las Vegas and Detriot.

Erm, the others hardly got the races

How many times where they in Brands?
Once in Donnington in recent years (93)
Once in Jerez (97) - and it was only there becasue modifications to the Estoril track failed to be finished on time

Nurburgring - since 1995 to current its been in the calnder under european and the Luxemburg GP

well it was meant to move each year... that was the idea till the nurburgring got hold of it.....

it was actually held at jeraz in 94......

in 97 it was drafted in to replace estoril which couldnt make the callinder (and we havent seen it back since :( )

it was at brands once, in 85

the first ever grandprix at silverstone was given the tile of Grand prix, l'europe, too
