why?

with 16 laps to go he takes his right hand off the wheel and changes up, up, then takes left off, and right back on and changes up.

pretty hard to tell if his fingers move

in one issues of f1 racing it was written that while normally one hand is used for shifting-up and the other for shifting-down, in ferrari's system it is possible to do both with any hand.

yeah, the shifters is a one piece toggle. ie:by pushing the 'downshifter' side forward, the upshift goes backward, thus having the same effect as upshifting. i read it in autosport after malaysia.

if there is going to be an investigation then you have to remember they wont just look at the footage, the fia will be able to inspect the car after the race, if there is a full auto box in there they'll find it, also from the t-cam it will be hard to tell exactly what the driver is doing anyway

I taped the race, in lap 7 from the end, you can clearly see Sato taking his right hand off the SW on his way to the back straight, and the car upshifts by itself!!!!

some cars have shifters on the left side (up and down), and in some (like Ferrari), it is made to fit the hand perfectly, so you can't see the hand moving.

source: Speed Channel, Steve Matchett, David Hobbs, and another guy who was in F1 also said ;)

It was a great race, great job by Montoya and Kimi.

Kimi would have won if it would have been dry weather all time, because he was with 2 stop strategy and Montoya and Rubens with 3 stops.
