Schumacher warey of mclaren

Michael Schumacher has tipped McLaren to offer the sternest opposition to Ferrari in 2003.

The world champion admitted he had been impressed by the lightning pace of the Silver Arrows in testing this winter.

Schumacher is therefore expecting David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen to offer fierce competition in 2003 as the German bids for a record sixth world title.

He told the Sun: "I hope it's going to be a good season but looking at the times set by McLaren, they're looking good."

Schumacher was back on track for the first time this winter in Barcelona on Tuesday

I must agree that the times Mclaren are setting are very impressive considering they're using the 02/03 hybrid car and not the full 03 version and I don't see why they would bother running an illegal car to get good times as they've got sponsors so they don't need the publicity and that would be a waste of good testing time which they need every minute of to catch Ferrari.
Still its only testing, we won't know for sure until Melbourne and until Imola for the 03 car

Trouble is,MS said last year that the Mclarens were a force to be reckoned with,and look what happened!
Let's hope that this year his fears are true!

but we'll see once the European Season starts since I think thats when Ferrari and McLaren will actually race their 2003 cars

Hopefully MBenz won't be underpowered compared to Ferrari & BMW because Newey usually makes a good chassis

hmm mclaren were setting fairly good times last year as well.

odds on certainty for a ferrari one two this year as well.

I reckon the shoe will win it with 3 rounds to spare.

third might be interesting as williams haven't really produced a good car
since newey left.

Did'nt MS smash the lap record, set a few days before by DC at Valencia?

McLaren were just as impressive in 2001-2002 post-pre season testing, and we all know what followed.

It's true MS broke the lap record set by DC this week - but only by two tenths of a second from the Scot.

hmm admittedly i dont really remember much if any head to head
testing between mclaren and ferrari last year.

aren't ferrari still using the '02?

IIRC from last year testing times, ferrari really never seem interested
in setting track records just test the componenets and then unleash on race day when it matters.

The real problem with mclaren last year was 50hp, if illmor can fix that then
there should be a good fight.

unfortantely MH has left, DC really doesn't have the consistency to
be able to beat the shoe for the title.

maybe shoe with only two rounds to go

still the only test that will really matter is albert park.

I really hope there will be a three way go for the,constructors title, and no 4 wont be that far back.

I reckon the new points system should help a lot.
