aussie commentator fired!

channel nine has fired long time f1 commentator for formula one Darrell
EastLAKE (duh Newspaper!).... my opinion, i don't even like the guy...why
don't they cut the chase a show genuine formula one coverage rather than
alan jones and him always screwing it up with there opinions.....
i hope channel ten don't do the same and get straight to the point...

Alan Jones is great, i dont know what everyone complains about...

Im always interested in other opinions especially those of a former F1 world champion.

yeah AJ is good ... last year i think they even had old eddie mcguire (i dont know how to spell it and i dont really care so why am i writing this)

they should have alan jones with channel ten rather than neil crompton

Darrel Eastlake wasn't too bad. But I don't understand what you mean when you said channel 9 have fired him....Channel 9 don't have the F1 anymore, so what did they fire him from?

I liked Darrell Eastlake as a F1 commentator, too.
I don't know why he got fired, maybe because of his outburst at the end of the 2002 Austrian GP, when he payed out Jean Toht and Ross Brawn, or there was another race where he payed out Martin Brundle's comments about finding a way to slow down the Ferrari cars.

Either way, I'll miss him, Alan Jones, Murray Walker, and all the rest of the commentators who have been associated with Channel 9 one way or the other.
I really, really hope that Channel 10's commentators (whoever they may be) are up to the same calibre as Ch. 9's.

they belong to ITV based at England

Darren and Alan are just fill in commentator when the formula one isn't ready or about to start or head to the race then preview the other com...

OK I still don't get it, Channel 9 don't have the F1 anymore, yet they fired him from the only show he was doing but not doing anymore cos it's not on anymore.....?

And yeah, like eagle said, his attitudes and opinions were really good to hear cos they were so un held back, same with Alan Jones's too.

Darrel hasnt been fired, i assume he'll still be doing his regular sport thing on the today show.

Last i heard was that he had "resigned" from channel 9, which means that he wont be doing anything at all with the network now.

I'm just glad we've got Martin Brundle over here-his knowledge of the cars,and his ability to explain how something works so that everyone can understand is superb,and he says what he thinks and ITV don't mind!
We still miss Murray though!!

of course to the animated gif of RAzTahZ. he has been asked to change it before - not only because it is too big for people on 56k, but also because it gives some people headaches. If Mr. RAzTahZ paid some respect to the community he would have changed it.

erm, why is 3 pictures of Schumacher flashing on screen giving respect to Geoff?

We aks for it to be changed becuase

1) - if you are on a 56k modem, it takes too long to download and display

2) the flashing of it on screen is actaully beginning to give me a headache as i can see it in the corner of my eye whilst im typing this
