on another note: i just got stunned by seeing that Alonso (and Ferrari) have only 2 Podiums since the season start.
If (and I know this may go too far) you assigned the Points System Prior 2003 (10;6;4;3;2;1), Alonso would have only 25 Points after 11 starts - and Kimi just 1.
Now, I remember how dismal Hakkinen's last season was (2001), but still, after 11 races he had 19 Points, which is not too far from alonso's total tally this season, and which included numerous Problems (5 DNFs from 11 races) that alonso does not suffer
There may be better examples for a comparison, but I just wanted to emphasize the ridiculity of Ferrari's current form. neither in 2005, nor in 1996 or even 1991 have Ferrari struggled that much (indeed their top Driver had few Points in 1991, but rather to lack of reliability than to pure Speed only). You have to look back to 1992 perhaps to see that Level of underperformance by one of the top Teams and no doubt the most legendary in the Sport.
As pointed out, the last time such Thing happened (with a WC-Driver in the Team) was 1991. And we know all too well how the relationship between this WC and Ferrari finished back then.
I would also be very interested to hear your opinion on Mattiaci. In my opinion he should look back at what Flavio and Jean Todt did in Benetton and Ferrari. Back in the mid 90's I was not so keen on F1 and could not really read or hear how jean todt managed the Situation at ferrari. Or how Briatore acted once he returned to benneton in the early 2000's?
