Qualifying is going to be extremely important. It looks like Red Bull might just have that edge again so if that rings true then it's advantage Vettel. But both Ferrari and McLaren look competitive on the longer runs. So in theory Alonso has a chance to shake things up a bit.

Lewis looked very comfortable on worn tyres in FP1, but his form disappeared in FP2... I wonder if there is another problem with his car twitter won't be hearing about.

Yeah, it seems to be finely balanced. I'm hoping Lotus, Sauber and maybe even Williams can join into the mix once quali starts.

I haven't read the story yet, but I assume it was for his ding dong with Dani Clos.

Was that not with de la Rosa? I didn't think it was that big a deal TBH.

Yeah, I think the media is making the MS thing a bigger deal than it actually is.

it is unbeliaveble. every single time the guy does a thing they punish him because he is... schumacher. best example (for me) EVER... hungary 2006. true fans will know what i am talking about.

well, basically in hungary he overtook under yellow flags, but the reason was that alonso practicaly stopped on the track. Plus, schuey went in the pit about 50 metres further down the road, didnt thread anyone and ...couldnt do anything since he would have hit kubica (who was behind alons)., for that he got 2 sec. added to each of his seassions times in each part of qualy.

In 1994 he could have been thrown out of the championship on 3 separate occasions. Or in Malaysia in 2002, when he drove into Montoya, knocking off Montoya's front wing, and Montoya got the penalty.

Don't go all "ooh, he's Schumacher, punish him!" on us. You could fill a page with things he could have been penalised for but either wasn't, or was too leniently penalised.

I like the bloke (now), but don't pretend he's all Mr Nice Guy. He's as ruthless a driver as Senna, and more controversial. That's he's punished occasionally is exactly what you'd expect of such a character.

Kimi will win!

Vettel DNF crash.

Alonso/Lewis collision.

Massa second.

Webber drop back.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Wasn't 2003 the year Ferrari and Bridgestone complained about Michelin just as it looked like Williams and McLaren had a real chance of beating them?

Obvious statement is obvious.

It was indeed. Something about shoulder profiles, IIRC.

Well done to Webber, for out-Vetteling Vettel. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the race if he manages to maintain his lead.

I'm thinking that if penalties were applied back then the same way they are now, he would've struggled to win any titles during the time he was with Benetton, and he would've won a lot less races for sure, because he would've had so many drive-thrus and grid-drops, and even bans, in an era when passing on the track was much more difficult. As it was, IIRC he only got allowed to stay in the Championship in 94 because Germany was F1's fastest growing market at the time and Bernie wanted a German Champion.

So, yeah, his misdemeanors in his early years make his recent stuff look like pussy-@#$%&.

Great lap under pressure from Webber, I hope he'll be allowed to beat Seb in the race if he's faster. It would help make up for his n00b-up here in 2010 as well.
Great to see Kimi high up as well, hope he can get a podium from here.

You got the last point right. It's terrible how Webber hasn't sorted his starts out given that he's in a powerful car. Sure he isn't as strong as Vettel but when he gets the chance he should grab it with both hands rather than pitying himself when he screws up.
