2012 Bahrain Grand Prix Thread ***SPOILERS***

Watched the GP2 race, Coletti made himself look a right mug.

It was quite similar to this:

Vettel and Heikki have both been outstanding today.
This could end up being a surprisingly decent race if Vettel gets away in the lead. I can see him bottling up a bunch of quicker cars pretty effectively, especially given how difficult this track can be to pass on.

At least for the first two laps. Then he'll be "nowhere on the straights" again like last week.

I think Vettel's race pace will be strong. Their pace in Shanghai was very good, and I still haven't quite worked out how they managed to keep their tyres in such good shape for so long.

I think Hamilton will probably win, but I reckon only he will be faster than Vettel.

i´ll put my bet on Rosberg. he is the only one in the top 5 that has an extra set of soft tyres. I´m also expecting Kimi to do a good race

Soft tyres don't seem to be quite the way to go this year.

Naturally it depends on what the degradation is here (I've no heard anything - I guess I'm less interested in the race here for a number of reasons), but it seems that Pirelli have got the balance between the softer tyres and the harder tyres just right.

Only A FEW drops of Rain *Niki Lauda*

Funny how the German television celebrates Vettel's Pole, as if he were the Messiah *better than any other driver*, Vettel finger is more important than Rosberg's first win. And stop talking about soccer for god's sake >_<.....

I personally do not believe that Vettel wins, McLaren still has the better package, i put my Money on Silver ;) no Vettel Finger Today.

The Real Story of the Race was that the Renault's fell apart and the Ferrari's didn't.
Rosberg headed for the sliproad and retired, probably because of Nicotin starvation they have still not given him a helmet with a little hole in it.

very good race, it seems Mclaren spoiled Hamilton's race... twice!!, not sure he had the pace to fight against the Renault powered cars though but still

Kimi FTW

Would be fascinating to hear Ferrari team radio at the moment, is Felipe pushing them to let him by as Fernando would?

Kimi didn't quite have enough in him. Stunning race by him though. Grosjean too to a lesser extent.

Pretty woeful stuff from Webber and McLaren.

Star of the race is probably di Resta though. Missed an entire session of race preparation, been through the mill and they're rewarded with a drive like that.

Edit: Will be interesting to see if Hamilton and Rosberg get penalties. I can imagine Hamilton getting a penalty for overtaking off the track... I can't decide how dangerous Rosberg's defence against Alonso was though, and whether it's deserving of a penalty. To be honest, I don't know why they didn't just go for the outside - there's no excuse for overtaking off the track when there's a perfectly usable 15 metres on the other side.

absolutely, it was impressive to see him hold on to it like that.

i hope someone captured that Grisjean smile in the PC. a lot of material for the funny caption thread
Probably the best race we've had in Bahrain, but then again there's not much competition...

Was hoping for a Raikkonen win, but felt it was unlikely after the final stops as he couldn't get on with his new tyres. Grosjean drove really well too.

I can't say I expect anything less from Vettel, but he did a good job. Di Resta was classy too.
