Well do they?

We saw that Italian penalty against Australia, the second goal by Brazil against Ghana.

Are the commentators wrong, do the "prominent" teams get favourtism in the World Cup?

Well the Italian (Matterazi) shouldn't have been red-carded in the same game, so I don't think that argument really stacks up. ;-)

I think it's more that a lot of games are more physical than others - the Premiership is a lot more demanding than, say, Serie A in Brazil. It's different cultures. A better argument to make would be to say that the rules favour the Southern Americans (the more prominent anyway), Italians and Spanish and the likes, and the refs are simply enforcing those rules.

hope can the player know whether he dived unless they have a "perfect" view. I thought it was a penalty also till i saw the replays. the refs dont have that luxury.

the offside rule is so retarded that i doubt the linesmen know when to give it sometimes.

my answer. NO. otherwise Ghana would never have advanced in the first place.

talking about that (even if its not in the subjetc)

wouldnt it be more simple if we can allow replays to take those kind of things?

like in hockey, they have the replays for goals, penalty shots, etc...

it would arrange much more problems...

Well add to that the second yellow for Lucic against Germany, which has to be a joke, the first red card of USA against Italy etc. - I think the FIFA does indeed want certain teams to be helped, as happened in 2002 with South Korea as the host nation, being cheated through against both Italy and Spain, and with Germany when cheated through against USA in the same tournament.

I don't believe for a minute that it's no FIFA's agenda to see the grandee teams through. Just as you are 'finding' examples of when teams were apparently 'helped', there are as many examples of big teams being hampered by refereeing. You're just using selective facts to justify yourself.

With some referees there may be an element of subconscious "sucking up", but I don't think it's anything deliberate.
