I know Mike, I was kidding! The guys just play a more physical game which they think is the natural way, like Emerson for Brazil (he's from the south, he learned that way)

Mika's right, rugby is actually in the minority by quite some way. many, many, many more kids actually play soccer than rugby here. and that's even in Sydney and Brisbane which are the traditional rugby strongholds in Aus.

I myself am a rugby player and fan, and have been since I first played when I was 5, so that's why I bang on about it.

Grosso certainly made no effort to NOT run into Neill. perhaps if he'd put as much effort into playing the ball rather than his dive he might have scored by himself ;)

I highly doubt he would, he didn't seem to be intimate of the ball :p. I could see him kicking and the ball going backwards, hehe

penalties can and do decide footy games too- I can think of at least a couple of Bledisloe Cup matches decided in the last moment by a penalty (think John Eales knocking over that goal especially)

however those decisions were not as ordinary as the one last night ;)

it's just so frustrating, having watched the video a couple of times that Grosso doesn't even attempt to make any effort to stay on his feet, in fact quite the opposite. he did EVERYTHING he could to go to ground, but hey, it's soccer. that's what you do.

had Neill stayed on his feet, made the tackle and booted it away and the game went to extra time I think the Aussies would have been well and truly in the box seat. the Italians would have been tired, frustrated, and we still had two subs to use.

Hiddink would have taken off Wilkshire (who made one or two good tackles but really only proved he's an English third division player :)) at the break and brought on Kennedy to give some more height up front. Probably with maybe ten to go, if scores were still level he'd take off probably Culina and bring Thompson on, then move to a 3-2-5 formation ;)

and then Totti probably would have banged in a thirty yard wonder goal off a counter attack with a minute to go anyway :(

An Australian man has been arrested in Italy for an assault on a local man after the World Cup soccer match between Australia and Italy.

Witnesses say the Australian was 20 metres away when the incident happened.

The victim suffered a fractured skull, a cardiac arrest and has developed diabetes as a result of the incident.

He is expected to recover in a few minutes.

It's easier to persuade a brick wall to go out of your way then to discuss football with Gui. No matter what you say, he'll always know better then you.

If he thinks all Aussies are natural born rugby players and pirate sons of British convicts you won't get it out of his head. However he won't accept the well-known fact that all Brazilian players are actually gay taxi-dancers or women who had sex change operations.

German players have the so-called Sauerkraut mentality and try to make coleslaw out of their opponents. English players wear Bowler hats all the time. No way to make them play extra time since the football unions will make them strike at once.

Let us think of clichés for French, Italians and all others that meet Gui's stereotypes of AUssie rugby mentality.

We could start with France's new national football kit design, a black and white striped football top with a string of onions around the next, and a black beret to wear on their heads ;)

LS, it's blue & white with a red beret ;) You've got to stop watching 'Allo 'Allo in black & white.
