Like dressage, or other crap that is in there?

Isn't one of the aims of the Olympics to promote peace? So why there are some fighting competition?

BTW, while doing some search on wikipedia i found that motorsport was a demonstration event in the 1900 Olympics.

What about generic karts? Every driver representing a nation, all drivers will have the same kart, and the olympic games host would design a track (ala ROC) with various layouts in a stadium. The format could have the F1 2005 qualifying mode - 1 hotlap only and the normal races. The races could be eliminatory like the athletics events, drivers distributed in several heats eliminating some of them and leading to the main event - gold medal race.

The purpose of using only karts is, theres almost no technology in it, not much dependant of setups and its all about driving skill and talent.

Problem is how to define which drivers would be qualified to Olympics - I suppose that we could allow only national karting champions of each country to reveal more talents or F1 drivers.

Why only F1 drivers? Aren't IRL or ALMS or DTM drivers good enough?

The karting thing seems a nice idea though, it's cheap, simple, and it would reveal karting talents.

They are, ofc... i just couldnt find an idea to define how the drivers would be qualified for the olympic games races.

Most events have a qualification process, where the fastest times in a given category get to go. ;-)

One other concern I think is that poorer countries can't enter. One of the main things the Olympic Commitee want is that every country has equal chances. Many African countries don't have money to run a racing team, let alone have a track.

Thats why i suggested karts, they provide equal chances

And whats the deal with these aussie Supercars? These Aussie V8 cars are crappy and boring, I prefer to watch Brazilian Stock Car... at least we've got better tracks around our country.

V8 Supercars produce fantastic racing. The circuits are far better in all honesty. Adelaide, Bathurst, Surfers Paradise, Melbourne, Oran Park, Phillip Island, Hidden Valley against Brasilia, Curitiba, Jacarepaguá, Interlagos is no contest as far as I'm concerned.

tbh, the Brazilian Stock Cars are just too silly looking for anyone in the rest of the world to take them seriously. V8 Supercars gets coverage in Europe, with Bathurst and Surfers Paradise often getting live coverage. But your lucky if even hardcore motorsport fans know even the slightest about the Brazilian Stock Cars.

I agree they do like it

Although I personally think the Supercars have got a bit boring this year. 2004 2005 and 2006 were great very close and lots of action.

It's your opinion, I dont like Bathurst or any of the other tracks apart of Melbourne and Adelaide, but I still rate my home tracks higher than them, in special the old Jacarepagua.

I dont care about which series gets more coverage or not, really...

I could watch Aussie V8s here in "Speed" channel and sometimes in FX Speed but I really dont give a damn to them. And they were crap in rFactor too ;)

Well, this is subjective, if you prefer Supercars its fine, but I'll stick with my brazilian stock cars. In my preferences I think that only WTCC would beat it.

only minor thing about supercars is that they only have 2 manyfacters, they need atleast 3 or 4 imo.
