Before I watched F1 I started watching motorsports with CART back in 96 and that was the era when I was more in love with racing. The 1990s were very competitive in CART (specially the later half), lots of good drivers and this thread is meant for those of you who enjoyed this era and want to share your memories and thoughts about it.

For me, the best moments of Indycar and CART until 2000 (besides of 7 wins and '99 CART championship by JPM obviously):

Andretti-JPM, Michigan 2000, above...

My favorite indy race was from 1989. Indy 500 where Emerson Fittipaldi won after a battle for the lead with Al Unser.

cart cars at the moment are probably the most comparable to f1 in lap speed then ever before, pity its popularity has died. in australia they should races late night for many years, now theyve taken it off tv. big shame.

actually i saw a race on channel 7, of all channels recently in australia. the cars look like fun to drive, does anyone know if the cars are still 800kg with driver or less now? and does any one know if champcars have been breaking lap records this year with the new car?

Of course the new car is breaking lap records. It's 5 years newer in development than the previous Lola lol.

channel 7 really picked up on the motorsport bandwagon of late. not sure why they suck as a station.

OH man i was looking for this video for ages, i actually made a thread, i think couple of months ago, this is my favourite race ever but i was so mad to see Servia take Tracy out!!

Man thats bought back so many memories!

I wish it were in english, but yeah that was great, T1 with montoya deferen, and PT nearly getting invovled. if Montoya's Front left had not have been ripped off he would have been taken out aswell!

He then took off to a huge lead, and his engine shut down, 2nd time that season it just shut down all by itself. first one was at Road America which he came back and won which was crazy. anyway yeah Servia was a bit idiotic in that race, also saw him puncture Castroneves' suspension. I cried when PT's engine shut down and then the crash at the end

but man what a race!

Awesome stuff. Never saw that Andretti shunt before. Wow....
