I actually wouldn't be suprised if the Caterhams are pretty good. The Ginetta's at Brands Hatch are essentially a badly made Mazda MX5 (yes thats right!) held together with good ole duct tape but the race was fantastic. I wont say any more though till Monday just in case I'm badly wrong there :P

Yeah my thoughts too, but then I expected the Radicals to be pretty good at Donington. Oh how wrong I was.

Still, it's not like we're going for the cars. We're going for the awesome Scottish weather.

ive seen Caterham and formula ford racing at Castle Combe and thruxton and ive never seen a boring race infact those classes are usually the most entertaining.

Oh and on the topic of quality drivers in the btcc Tom Chilton who drives for vauxhall drove in the ALMS and easily led races (he might even have won at laguna seca), that must make him a really poor driver lol

Well I wouldn't go that far ;) I've seen some fattish guy go all out on a 125 gearbox kart and gave up after only doing a few meetings and test days just because he was knackered after a few laps. As long as the driver is in reasonable shape those sort of sprint races wouldn't take too much out of you, although hot weather would throw you if you were just hanging on in the coolder conditions. I doubt any of them BTCC drivers could jump into a reasonably quick singe seater and last a good race distance.

So over the years it has produced one driver to actually do something in his career, well when I say something he is still racing a BTCC car so couldn't be all that... It's fact that all/most drivers don't have BTCC on their path up the motorsport ladder and that's pathetic when you consider it's supposed to the premire of UK motorsport.

Not a singe person I talked to said they were looking for a drive in BTCC, it was always Formula Renault or Clio Cup. That was there best chance of progressing up the motorsport ladder from there, BTCC just isn't taken seriously.

mmm yes. In easily the best car on the grid, he beat a 4 or 5 year old car that had a tonne of weight shoved on it in order to slow it down. Hes awesome. Better call Flavio, we have a new star. We could look at the rest of the grid, who combined have achived approximately nothing

lmao yeah. Bunch of n00bs causing accidents from being unable to handel there cars - entertaining!

I think bestof was refering to the fact that Chilton has to be fit to have raced in the ALMS and lead.

Those cars do look rather punishing to drive, especially underbraking!

But yeah, he seems to be the only relativly good driver in the series!

After watching the races this afternoon I have to admit I was wrong. They don't have little skill.

They have no skill.

It was awesome trackside, where you want death and destruction. ;)

If I watched it on TV (and I probably will) I'd be cursing as and laughing as much as others.

All that said, the Seat Cupra Cup was awesome from where we were (on the exit of the chicane, the outside). Front wheel drive cars getting plenty tail-happy as they were getting light. Good, clean racng too, even if the actual driving standard wasn't up to much (similar to BTCC I suppose, only slower). Caterams were good in the wet too.

Yeah, I was at knockhill too and it was actually quite entertaining. We were really just hoping for some accidents to spice it up a little, which we got a few of. A couple of big ones in race 2 infact. As Gav said, the seat cupras were quite fun, although half of the fun came from the crazy marshal.

On topic infact, we went karting again today seeing as it was dry this time. We ended up on the track for 45 minutes straight and it was getting very warm. We all came off knackered and bruised, but the pace didn't dip at all :)

I wanted to have another go :)

Although I will admit about 5 mins after getting out of the kart my arms went a tad wobbly.

The BTCC driving was pretty poor, but it was entertaining at least. It's a long way to go for entertainment I guess, but no different to people travelling to see a concert really.

Do they use prokarts at Knockhill's kart track? Prokarts = Two of Honda's all purpose engines ;)
