Circuit length

Hey everyone,
A quick question for the more technically minded folks here.

Is it possible to extend the maximum length for a circuit beyond its original means and if not, why not? Is it possible for this element of the game to be rewritten?

I dont think it can be increased beyond 137 kb(max permissible size of gp3 circuit dat file).
For gp3-2k and gp4 though there is probably no limit.

Cheers - shame the circuit length is so limited.

the length limit is spa plus a few sectors, remember it's a very old game built on the original gp2 code
