Un-install the game.

Then go to C:\Program Files\Hasbro Sports\Grand Prix 3 open the Grand Prix 3 folder and delete or remove everything in it.

Reinstall GP3 in:- C:\Program Files\Microsoft games\Hasbro Sports\Grand Prix 3 (it will not automatically go here you must type in C:\Program Files\Microsoft games\Hasbro Sports\Grand Prix 3 at install) do not run.

Go to C: Program files\Microsoft games\Hasbro sport\Grand Prix 3 folder and right click (de-select read only) also (run as administrator on user) Vista compatibility mode Ok.

Restart the computer just because I ask you to.

Go to the CD drive, Autorun, Play it might crash at this stage make sure windows firewall and your security is allowing it to play.

Configure graphics NO in-game exit save yes.

Open Grand Prix 3 Folder take all the files that I sent drop them in the Grand Prix 3 Folder (say yes replace existing).

Not finished yet, also open the folder OLD_FILES copy and paste all files into Grand Prix 3 Folder (say yes replace existing).

Go to GP3.exe right click, run as administrator on user. Vista compatibility mode Okay.

Run game from GP3.exe

calibrate graphics yes.

If it doesn’t work post back – gconfig and cads. info

Okay,
1. so did you try windows 98 compatibility?
2. What’s not working?
3. When, how does it fail?
4. Are you using Vista 32bit or 64bit?

Before changing too much can you have a look and make sure your Internet Security is allowing gp3.exe gpxpatch.exe. I’m going to die soon!

Ok...

1. so did you try windows 98 compatibility? ==> it doesn't work
2. What’s not working? I've got a PO between 170 and 300% when the weather is clean, without rain, without clouds and I can't run on SW mode
3. When, how does it fail? Everytime when the weather is clean
4. Are you using Vista 32bit or 64bit? 32bits

The game worked perfectly before I've need to change my HardDrive for crashing problem...

Hello
Just a few more questions:-

1. Is your Internet Security is it allowing gp3.exe gpxpatch.exe
2. Is the high PO when you’re running the new install with no changes to the files?
3. Have you installed Grand Prix 3 v1.13 update?
4. Are you running GPxpatch?
5. The high PO when it’s not cloudy, is it just on the starting grid?
6. What’s the PO after the cars thin out?
7. Does the high PO make the game go in slow motion?

I really hope you are having fun driving in the rain.

2. Is the high PO when you’re running the new install with no changes to the files? ==> Yes
3. Have you installed Grand Prix 3 v1.13 update? ==> Yes
4. Are you running GPxpatch? ==> No
5. The high PO when it’s not cloudy, is it just on the starting grid? ==> No, during all the race but it increase when I have a lot of car around me
6. What’s the PO after the cars thin out? I don't understand what you wanna say with "thin out"
7. Does the high PO make the game go in slow motion? ==> Yes

Can I lock the weather in cloudy conditions ?

If you install GPxpatch you can set it to say 50% chance of rain.

Install the GPxPatch click on GPxSet and season settings on the right-hand side of Whether: choose Custom, probability of rain 53 %. It will be quicker for you to set up the correct rain conditions this way.

>7. Does the high PO make the game go in slow motion? ==> Yes< Okay, so have you tried going longer into the race? The high PO may stop the slow motion after a few corners.
I realize fully this is not a solution, just curious trying to solve that problem.

1. What happens when you start the race in rainy conditions and it clears up?
2. Do you normally race in a full season or quick race?

Finally, I was able to reproduce the problem you are talking about new hard drive was the clue. I don’t know if it is possible to reproduce this with nvidia, because I did try
Okay, so new hard drive and Windows install, in this case Vista 32 bit; however, I reproduced the same condition with Win7 Ultimate 64bit and ATI

So below is the fix :-p
Hidden Administrator account.
1. Click Start.
2. In the Search box, type cmd.
3. Right click on the icon and select Run as Administrator.
4. You should now face the Command Prompt black window.
5. Now type net user administrator /active:yes If you want to disable it later use net user administrator /active:no
6. In case you wish to password protect such an account, type Net user administrator [yourpassword]
7. Log off and log in to see the hidden account fully available.

GP3 Set compatibility mode windows 98, GPxPatch compatibility mode XP.

Recommend you go straight to drive a quick race. When you see that it’s working then go to Options_Graphics_Advanced_Automagic_Recal. Then Workshop_ Utilities_Menu setup. I like to choose everything, plus the printer, then on the way out Save game state.

You will find when you do this. You can reboot as user, and it will still work.

I apologize it took so long to figure this out. It was very hard to reproduce, wasn’t able to fix it until I was able to see it for myself!!! Yes, I am 100% sure.

Just so you know this happened on my computer Six layer AMD 3.20 GHz with 8 GB of RAM. I was seeing when it was dry 400-600 occupancy. After the third corner, it was around 240. When it was wet, 30-40. Now is at 60 dry and about 17 when wet.

;)Your new nvidia card and GP4 CD are in the mail;)

Hmm CTD, great! Have another look and see with right click on GPxPatch Properties XP and Administer are still checked.

The good news is Grand Prix 4 will like the ATI card.

You are not alone with this problem, there are many old games that have a problem with the .exe not able to see the ram on the main board.
As I first suspected this is at least some of the problem.
There are several reasons mostly to do with windows security issues. A combination also with ATI CCC.exe and windows security also a small part IMO.
Still working on a solution as a hobby. I explained earlier I’m not an expert, so I will probably have a solution in about 4 to 6 years, hopefully before I die:-P

It is possible to force the graphic setup from one of your saved, just copy from your saved file and drop into Grand Prix 3 folder.

Something like this might work
;gp3 generated file - do not edit

[Software 3d] good 1 2560 3 2560
[ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series] good 1 2560 3 2560
[ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series] good 1 2560 3 2560

;gp3 generated file - do not edit

[Software 3d] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series] good 128 1 8192 3 8192 4 8192
[ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series] good 128 1 8192 3 8192

G:-P

I have a Sempron 140 2,7 GHz... my PO is around 600%... =/
I'm trying to discover if my problem is processor... because, with a 462-Sempron, my PO didn't pass over 170%...

you can select the weather conditions in gp3\options\ race options. There you can specify the conditions to your own wishes :)
