GP32K - Not working on Windows XP Pro

I've just, re-, purchased Grand Prix 3 and the 2000 Add-on. GP3 itself works fine, but I keep running into problems with GP32K and am hoping for some support

I can install and load GP32K but when I go to configure the graphics it crashes (after about the 4th test). Likewise if I skip that and just try to race, it'll crash

I'm running Windows XP Professional SP2 with 1GB RAM and a 250GB HDDD.

Any help gratefully received.

my OS is XP Home Edition SP2 and i don't have problem, and my RAM is only 256 Mb, i think your problem not is your operation system, becouse Home Edition and Professional Edition are almost identicals

XP Professional SP2 GP3 and 2k are running, no problems here.
Do you use GPxPatch ?

Hmm... very strange... I'm not using any "add-ons" yet. Here is the "history":

Installed GP3

Installed 113 update

Copied no-CD exe

Everything works fine

Installed GP32K

Crashes during graphics test

OK, I've installed GP32K, then GPxPatch but the same thing happens Should I be doing anything "special" with GPxPatch? All I've done is install it and then run GP32K from it. Do I need to have any no-CD exe files or something?

You need the decrypted.exe, see FAQ + Installation Guide !

Unfortunately, the links in that guide don't work. Besides, the documentation for GPxPatch says you don't need the decrypted exe. I don't remember it being all that difficult when I first had the game

just put that in the gp3 2k folder and start up gpxpatch and it should work

HOWEVER

It crashed (even before the loading screen) for me. What i did was start gpxpatch in Windows 98 compatibility mode. (right click on the gpxpatch.exe, click on the compatibility tab).

Also if this all fails, make sure gpxpatch is running in Debug mode (on the first screen of gpxpatch when you load it up there is the option to run it in debug mode).

Try all this, if it fails, report back!

(oh and remember to back up the original gp3 2000.exe!)

Thanks, that appears to be working now (just need to try and improve the frame rate on wet races now )
