Hi Jawwad,

Yes, the 4mb vga is the problem. GP4 needs a good vga card to run well, 64mb probably.
In the manual it says that you must have a 16mb card for it to work at all, so your vga won't work.

Question for qwerty:

I'm intending to buy GP4, but I'm just wondering what is the bare minimum system to run it on.
I'm aware now that many games released in 2002 need at leat a 1 Ghz machine, but I'd just like to know if a Pentium 3 500 will still run the game smoothly at 1024 x 768.

I'm intending to upgrade to an Athlon 1800 XP+ ('bout 1.5 Ghz), with 512 Mb of DDR RAM and a 128 Mb GeForce 3 Ti200 video card.
Does this sound like overkill you reckon, or will GP4 run sweeeet?

Rubens, leave Ferrari while you still can!!!

Hi Rubeno,

Well, gp4 box says you need a 400mhz processor, 16mb gfx card and 64mb ram. That's rubbish. To get it to run at 15fps you need 350mhz, 8mb gfx, 64mb ram. BUT its not worth it. Its ugly, sluggish etc.

Your p500 is enough, but its all about gfx card. Its a new game, and this means it should use you gfx card to its full potential, NOT the processor. In theory procesor power shouldnt matter all that much, but p500 is about as low as you'd want it to go before its too annoying.

What gfx card do you have? That is the important question.

I don't think you can run it 1024*768 simply because of the processor bottlenecking the system, even if you had a GF3 right now.

But, with a GF3, XP1900 (if you can, maybe even xp2000) and 512mb ddr ram you're sorted. That gfx card will work blindingly, gp4 will look great.

I don't think that's overkill at all. Remember, gp4 needs high specs to run well, and other games at the moment....and in the near future.

Cheers,
Chris J

Yes Jawwad, I think you should have at least 32MB, preferably not onboard. That might not be the cause of your problem, but I can safely say that even if you got into the game, it would not run smooth enough to play.
