Buying GP3 2000

Would you guys recommend it?
I'm awaiting a copy of Grand Prix 3, and have downloaded various editors and patches for it already, as I won't have any internet access when I go back home in a few days for the summer. To me it seems like GP3 2000 might be a bit of a pain to patch, but all I really want is to be able to choose from the '95, '96 and 97 carsets and be able to edit the team peformance, damage, pitstops, failures and maybe a few tracks. Is GP3 2000 that much of an improvement over the original version? Should I buy and use it? If so could you recommend any decent editors for 2000, similar to GP3 edit, or any GP3 to 2000 carset converters if there are any?

Improvement? Not a huge one. You get an extra race in a season and an extra car in one team ('cos Madlaren had drivers names on the cars so needed two bitmaps). You lose GP3Edit and there is no direct version for the 2k game. You get to play better/more detailed circuits as the 137kb restriction of .dat files of GP3 is removed. I don't know if there's a physics editor for 2k or if the standard one will work with it via GPxPatch. No doubt someone will enlighten us. I have both games (and GP4) but I still use GP3 mainly.

Well I heard GP4 is a bit arcadey, but anyway I would have no chance of running it on my thinkpad! The GP3 demo works a dream though.
One question, is the safety car a 2000 feature, or is the safety car in GP3 as well?

Well I've been looking around on the internet and saw conflicting reports on the safety car. Was it ever included in any patch/ GP3 2000?

Different liveries for all 22 cars possible in GP3-2k with GPxPatch.

No safety car in any GPx series game.
(No safety car in any F1 PC games, for that matter.)

Physics editing possible in GP3, GP3-2k, and GP4 with the GP3 Advanced Physics Editor and GPxPatch.
