For the people counting more springs, like me, there are no doubt: 1986. Because the differents alternatives: Lotus-Renault(Senna) x Mclarem-Porsche(Prost) x Williams-Honda(Piquet and Mansell)

A lot of history!

1. Senna won the Spanish GP by 0,14 sec. against Mansell. Fantastic!
2. Prost said, in the first part of the championship: "For now I can´t win many races. We need to develop the car first. But I will colect the maximun possible amount of points. It can be important"
3. The Williams-Honda car was the best one during that year. But Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell fight one against other each race.
4. Mansell makes a very, very, beautiful overtake, beating Piquet in Brands Hatch.
5. Rosberg and Alboretto in Monaco. An overtake by the outside part of the track in the Saint-Devote curb!
6. Nelson Piquet x Ayrton Senna in Hungaroring. No coments!
7. Four drivers fighting by the championship until 4 races to the end!
8. Three (Mansell, Prost and Piquet) drivers fighting for the championship in the last Race (Adelaide, Austrália)
9. In this race Mansell needs only a third place. Prost makes a mistake and need to change the tires. Piquet is the leader when Mansell blows up the tires and leaves the race. The title belongs to Nelson? No. The Good Year staff calls all the drivers to change because Mansell´s incident. Except Prost because his tires were changed some laps before. The Professor assumes the first position, wins the race and the championship.

1. 1986 - no doubt.
2. 1984 - Senna and Bellof at Monaco.
3. 1996 - Schumi wins with Ferrari in Barcelona, Spa and Monza.

You will say I'm a freak but I find 1994 season the best.

All in all, it was a VERY interesting season... two fatal incidents, many crashes and the battle between Hill and Schumi until the very last race.

1986 was definitely a classic but there were other great seasons. 1983 was another super season with Alain Prost (Renault), Rene Arnoux (Ferrari) and Nelson Piquet (Brabham) fighting for the title in a thrilling title showdown with other drivers winning races as well. Then there is 1982 with 8 different winners and a title showdown. 1981 had 4 different drivers & teams gunning for the title in the final race... You just don't have that kind of suspense anymore.

1996 for me.

Damon Hill keeping hearts in mouths all season. Should have got it sewn up at Monza but we had to wait until the very end!

Jacques Villeneuve challenging all the way.

Schumacher putting some amazing drives in a bad Ferrari.

Dabid Coulthard's little shows of form at the Nurburgring and Imola. Hill's strategy at Imola was interesting too if i remember correctly.

Eddie Irvine out qualifying Schumacher in Melbourne...and Brundle's little accident!

I also liked the build up to the seasons....the build up to this season reminded me of 1996 a little. World champion going to a team thats been struggling recently. Current constructor's champion being without their star driver, (though in 1996, Benetton went for two experienced drivers). A new and exciting rookie......the only thing we are missing this time is the expectations on Damon Hill...though you could say its kinda there this time around in a different context with Silverstone's future in the balance.

I enjoyed the second half of 1994...1998 was a good season too...as was 1999.

I tend to remember individual races rather than whole seasons though...Silverstone 1995, Spa 1998, Hungary 1998 etc etc

Every season in wich we can't have any favorite.
So, 1997, 2003, 1986.
There's something about the 1982's season. This season was the most particular season of F1.
I was 9 years old, and, as a child, I learned a lot of things, even death. Let's make it clear, the death of Villeneuve and Paletti, the crash of Pironi wasn't the best memories at all! But the season just can't find a leader, and that's sport.
So, for me, the best season, if there was no dead, was 1982. Hope I won't chock anybody.

1997 (i remembered Melbourne, Monaco, Hockenheim and the final round in Jerez)
1999 (the hole season was fantastic)
2000 (special the race in Spa - Mika vs. Schumi)
2006 (Schumachers fights with Alonso, realy nice)

Poor that the 2007 season is still on, but when it is what I´ve seen in the first three races, this season could be on of the top season ever.
