Ok, I pait my cars in Adobe Photoshop and there is such tool as polygonal Lasso. You must mark an area you want to paint (for example, line) and then use brush. Much pionts you made by polygoman lasso - much smoother will be your line.

An advanced tip that works when using PSP software to get that extra level of detail....to begin with, increase the size of the texture by 500% with the "pixel resize" method so that it doesnt blur the edges (1). Then paint in your texture as you normally would (2), lol, you've got lots more space to go into smaller details. Once you've finished the car then SAVE A SPARE COPY! Then merge all the layers together and resize it back down by 20% (so that it returns to its original size) but make sure you use a "smart size" technique (3). This file is now your finished texture, make sure you save it seperately to the copy you made earlier...otherwise you wont be able to go back and edit it if you want to make any changes. This is the manual way of creating something called "anti-aliasing" and it makes your textures look a hell of a lot smoother :).

(1) Making the original bigger

(2) Doing your thing

(3) Resizing it back down again

Btw, it doesnt have to be 500% and 20% resizing. You could make it 200% and 50% or even 1000% and 10%....but as a general rule of thumb, the higher the scale is then the more smooth your textures will appear :). Hope this helps!

Check your PMs FernandoVG :)

@ DJRotty: Hoped my explanation was of some use to you. I know its a helmet but it gives you the general idea really :) the same logic can be applied to any texture really.
