My first GP3 post - help needed please

HI, i have only just reinstalled this game for the first time in many years. however i can no longer remember anything about all the patches and edits etc...
I installed GP3 on full and it worked fine... then added the GP3 patch v1.13... and GP3 would no longer even run. can someone help me please? is it recommended to get the 1.13 patch?
i also downloaded the No cd patch as i can remember it coming in handy in the past. i reinstalled gp3 again, but once i use "no cd" and copy the file over the original exe file it doesnt run either.???? help?
do i NEED these two patches to get each seasons carsets to work?
are there any other recommended edits or patches i must need?
i remember there was a program for uploading carsets and helmets, and also new tracks and graphics. have these been combined as one and what is it called? where can i download it?

also what does the decrypted exe do?

Allows you to play without put the dISC in the PC-Cd

...AND ( the most inportant ) alllows EDITING the game ( most-all editors must "see" the decrypted exe )

so why is my gp3 not working so far with the v1.13 and no cd??

where can i find the decrypted.exe (or is that the same as "no cd"

ok i found the stuff about how to get into it, but still my gp3 will not work after installing the v1.13 patch

what am i doing wrong??

i simply installed GP3 at full, then installed Directx7, then ran v1.13 patch... pressed play and it went through the normal set up but when i went to calibrate graphics and it crashes

what will that do? or what will it allow me to do?

Do not calibrate the graphics.
GP3 will run perfectly well without doing this.
(It seems to be a WinXP problem.)

Works fine ....

And run the gp3.exe file in win98 emulation. If you are using GPxPatch (you soon will anyway) its best in debug mode with low velocity.
