Hi mates, I have the worst news today. The last friday at 6.30 p.m Microsoft detect my Windows XP and show this message in my PC (well, i can´t remember the exact words):

"This computer use an "illegal Windows version", Microsoft corporation reserve all rights to use this computer and will be block this content. To maintain the security and the law the hard drive will be formatted".

Immediately I turn off the PC, try restart but windows not run. I check the hard drive in DOS but all was deleted. After this in a very hard moment for me, i try to install Ubuntu but is late, my hard drive was deleted by Microsoft. Now in Ubuntu I check all the PC status, all the components are fine.

I was try to learn Ubuntu, looking software and complements to install software special for Windows, but is very hard change an operative system only in one day. I was thinking move to Linux before the end of the year, step by step, and will go.

In resume mates, the carset not exist now, I lost 6 months of hard job in a second. The Honda was almost ready. All the cars was updated and loking some different than the first published versions, this only one or two weeks to publish all.

Also lost important data and documents, university projects, street projects (job/money), my father files and sister files.

Please I wait by your comprehension and really sorry, also I have part of the responsibility because not make an backup since december 2006, I'm was sure that it would not happen on my PC.

This does not finish here...

Just in order to protect myself from such "unforeseen contingencies" I have 4 copies of everything connected with GP3. How could you be so careless not making a backup???

Anyway, wish you good luck (you will need it now). Maybe some day you will recreate your great works. I FEEL DEVASTATED. Good luck again, Hector. Take care

something is wrong Hector... I had that message in the past too, but he said me, that I have 30 days left to buy or update the Windows XP to the Original status. Nothing more happened... nothing deleted. I was only pissed off, because I had reinstall Windows new!

Well, maybe he had nothing deleted, because I had made a partition of my first Hard Disk, to save only Windows on Hard Drive C, and the rest on the other ones :D

Very bad news, Hector, that is why people say make a backup of your HD
and when you need one, you have nothing (including myself).
First of all I will backup all my "Project TA" files, is there no way
to restore the HD files ? I think that there should be programs like
EasyRecovery, TrueImage or Recovery Expert could do that job.
Please continue your work, Hector, we need you.

You try Easy Recovery Software or other recovery software? When my HD crash (lost partition or format) i use the Easy recovery. You need another computer with software to recovery your HD.

You don't loose all work. Some cars are uploaded in this forum.

I'm very sad mates, thanks for the support, after this I'll try reconsider make a new carset in this two months.

Please try to recover your files, Hector, they are not all lost.

Six months ago I had a problem like this... I lost 1000 songs. It's so disgusting.

yep, recovery software will get about 95% back, sounds like a quick format
which only removes the dir structure, as long as you don't write to the
drive all the files should be intact, takes ages though

I found about it. Our friend Nuvolari was contamminated by a virus.

Not was an virus, i'm sure, my pc is are updated.
Soon i'll publish my decision to remake or not the carset.
