Graphics Cards

I have a Nvidia GeForce2 mx/mx 400 64MB graphic card. When I ran the calibration the game ignored this and used 3d software. When I manually changed the driver to the graphics card and selected maximum resolution 1280x1024 I get a horizontaly compressed very dark screen that enjoys crashing. When using just the 3d software the game runs fine but the graphics are not as good as I want.
Any ideas or help please ?

have you tried the latest detonater drivers from [www.nvidia.com]

these do make a difference to the geforce cards

try these, then let gp3 automatically configure your graphics, then go in to your graphics setting and tweak them to suit your preferences

hope this helps

Still doesn't work! Tried downloading a new driver from nvidia.com.
When I select the maximum screen resolution of 1280x1024 I am still getting a horizontally compressed, very dark screen. When using the hardware at all the game crashes as soon as I get into the race. I can currently only run the game using software mode which means pretty mediocre graphics and not why I spent £££ on a 64mb graphic card!!!

It's probably something very obvious and simple I am missing. Any ideas?

"There's a new NVIDIA card out with 256mb memory, its been out for about 2 months already."

yep but why would you buy a 256mb graphics card when you wont need it for another 2-3 years?

cos if you have the money why not buy the best there is? It means you don't have to waste time buying it in the future. And, imagine if computer games suddenly ceased to exist a year from now, you'd be pleased you had the best card for the current games. Hmm that got you didnt it?

I reckon you'd be annoyed you'd wasted so much money on a card whose features can't even be used.
