gp3 carsets converted to gp 3 2000?

There are not so many carsets for gp3 2000 as there are for gp3, i was thinking is there a way to convert gp 3 carsets to
gp3 2000? That would be great....

Yes, using Jam Tool by Mark Aarts.

Jam Editor does the job too, and you are also able to work with SW jams, but the browsing function is a bit buggy, so I would keep to Jam Tool if you are only interested in HW jams.

in gp3 2000, editing is more flexible, because you can use more than one carset in the game, like one for each track.
But when you're config the set in gpxpatch, you must especify the jams with right ID numbers, or the gpxpatch will not accept the new jams...like st. hubbins says, Jam Tool is better because you can change a ID from a jam file, but there's a lot of jam editors in this website.

But i think its possible to use them (but idont now how)

Can you send me an original gp3-2000 car liveries ? Maybe i can see which is the difference

You can save car liveries from gp3 in bitmaps and load with carset creator 2000 and export to the game. But that's a bit buggy too, is better doing it step by step.

I do not understand how you can manage to convert a carset from gp3 to gp3 2000 with jam tool??

What I do is the following, first opening a gp3 carset and saving all images as bitmaps (Cars, helmets, cockpits, etc.) then saving the performance file and the rest. So I run carset creator 2000 and load each bitmap and export to the game, taking care of see if it's everything in the right positions. Sometimes it works and sometimes I find problems.
It's a bit hard to make it.

It's a pity we can't use gp3 edit for gp3 2000! That would make life much easier
for us...

No way, gp3edit simply is unable to import anything or open the jams.

where can i get carset creator 2000 ????

erm, it is possible to import directly from GP3 and export to GP3 2000, i've done it on several occasions. only bug is them stupid rotating logos on the menus, cos they tend to go on a wonk when you do the export :S I'd try the old downloads section for csc2000, but i might have it somewhere if the link is dead

I'm in the process of making a GP3_2000 carset in the manner you specified above. However, mine doesn't export properly.

PROBLEMS I'VE FOUND:

* Access Violation while exporting...

* Missing and corrupt looking screens in GP3_2000 (blue-background).... game crashes when go to race...

I go to the Export Tab and hit EXPORT ALL, and sometimes (in an attempt to get it to work) I EXPORT items in groups or 1 at a time.

JUST SO YOU KNOW, I am loading all images in a manner that seems to be correct (they all view ok in Carset Creator 2000). Right sizes, numbers appear to be in right place.

ALSO, I've tried making a Carset based on the carset used in the OFFICIAL GAME (by importing/then saving) and I keep getting problems trying to EXPORT that...

No disrepect to the creator, but I'm thinking CarsetCreator2000 (version 3.5) doesn't seem to work too well.

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO GET THIS ALL TO WORK???? I've spent considerable time on designing/merging all the images so far as well as performance and team info.

The only full carsets I know are from EMAC's website, but they're after all only jam files installed right from the executable...and you play the Gp3 game by a shortcut which configures gpxpatch to access the files from that carset.

@Piquet fan: nope GP3Edit doesn't work for GP3 2k. i meant i got carset working in GP3 1.13 first (using GP3 Edit) then used CSC2000 to import from GP31.13, change the directory for export and then click export...as far as i can remember, this worked perfectly. I'm more of a GP4 player now, so it's a while since i've done it

thanks for the info on EMAC... problem is they only have up to 2002 season i think, and i like modifying things like having my own team, having performance to my own ability, etc... therefore dont like the idea of using jams, seems a little inflexible.

you said in a previous thread you've successfully exported things into GP3_2000 using CSC2000, true?

if so, any advice on how to get mine 2 work? and/or, could save your carset u use and email 2 me? what do u play and how?
