Sorry Paul - really hate doing this as you know my thoughts on this work but I thought you ought to know as you're such a perfectionist. Happily I know the cure too!

The visor overlays appear irregular on my screen ie chopped top to bottom. When I was making the track map overlays I had a few similar problems from other users(not me then as I was using a GF2 card with which the problem didn't exist). Having spoke with Rene Smit who helped me with the project, he advised that some graphics cards can only display overlay images whose dimensions are to the power of 2. As your overlays are 256x192, certain cards can't cope with this (192)figure. Sadly the GF4 Ti4400 is one of them. Hope this helps for subsequentqueries on this subject. I can resize mine for now but the effect won't be as good as what you've achieved and what you're aiming for so they're turned off for now. Cheers mate!

Edit. Bingo! Just remembered how I fixed track o'lays. The images I used were 1024x768 .tga. All I did was increase the canvas size to 1024x1024 with the bottom of the image the blank area that's not used. This negates the need for re-editing the alpha. Will try tomorrow as my girly here soon

oh...........

this is going to be a difficult one trying to fix something I can't see.

it's fine on my machine at all resolutions. I'm using a gforce 6600gt, but
I have had other problems armco/track editing.

there's also another bug regarding the gforce 6600gt that can cause tv camera
problems that on occasions will crash the game, weirdly this gets better when
I drop to 1024 and disapeers altogether at 800 res.

so guys please post any fixs to these problems.

i had this problem, and to get rid of it, i basicly tried what dinga did with his track maps, and made the size different. so, before, the visors were set at 1024x768, i just adjusted mine to 1024x1024 and they have been fine ever since.

Screenshot of bug:

The fix is straightforward if not a little time consuming,

1. Firstly increase the canvas size for every 256x192 image to 256x256 ensuring that the top of the original image is at the top of the new one. The extra 64 pixels will be chopped off when the .ini files are edited.

2. Edit Every image destination for the edited images in the .ini files to x1024 y1024

As simple as that!

@belini I've edited all the visors and .ini files already. If you want I'll mail the pack to you so you can check it out and save yourself some time - you've earned a bloody rest!!

Just a quickie - are the start lights meant to work as on the gantry or just 5 on then 5 off for the start?

5 on then off, I couldn't think of another way, any ideas?

I've resized all the sets including dirt/rain, it works with my gf6,
only took about 15mins, I'll upload when I hear your method is ok on other
cards.

thanks

Nothing that springs to mind. Using the timers wouldn't work as everyone's system speeds vary so results would be inconsistent, and without looking I don't think there are any controls for individual lights in GPxCinfo. Will have a look later tho. If you do want to develop this idea further Rene Smit is really helpful(as you probably know). I did a lot of beta testing when the first version of Cinfo allowed us to use custom panels to get the time triggers correct.

I was thinking of contacting rene to see if gpxpatch could be made to
pick up when it starts to rain, don't know what to do about updating the
visors as there's been no response of any other problems, as you've more
experience of cinfo do you think it's safe to upload the resized version
without causing any more problems.

I would say upload them. When I first uploaded the maps I'd used 1024x768 images which worked fine on my old GF2, but there was a lot of people especially in the GP4 community(it's a bit quieter here!) who had the same issues. It cured it for them, just did a search and it may be worth a read toward the bottom of this thread before you decide [www.grandprixgames.org]

Top idea about the rain, I see where you're going with this one. I've forgotten a lot about cinfo editing as it's been a while - we were manually editing the .ini files then in Notepad before the GUI was developed. I fancied trying to get the display rotating but could be hard

Another thought I had was with the steering wheels. If the image editing contained more controls we could actually have teams with their own specific wheels albeit with a generic display. Cosmetic maybe but would look good!

the cinfo stuff could be limitless, for example the dials I created for the
wheel would be great if they could be assigned to the wheels rotation panel,
or say visor dirt reseting the timer by a key command, I was even thinking
there must be a way to re-create the visor effect in gp4 when going into
the monaco tunnel.
