I`ve just finished makeing a loader for gp3edit that changes Camera (01) in the Onboard Camera Editor to the Cockpit Camera.

Just run it in the gp3edit directory and click import on the onboard camera editor screen before changing the cockpit camera (Camera 1).

Download Gp3CockpitCamEdit at [homepage.ntlworld.com]

Enjoy

To Frank,
I load down the editor and copied Gp3Edit_loader.exe to the Gp3Edit directory,
when I run Gp3Edit_loader.exe comes a message: CRC32 check failed !
What did I wrong ?! Can you help me, please ?

Happy racing from Germany !!!

hmmmm

Loader only works on version 1.13 of gp3edit.exe dated 17/05/02
176,128 bytes used

CRC32 check should only fail if gp3edit.exe has been modified or is a different version.

Try running the gp3edit installer again to reinstall it.

And i`ve only tested the cockpit cam editor with gp3 v1.13
Season2000 addon will not work I don`t think. (I don`t have the 2000addon).

I`ve rebuilt it without the CRC check and can be tested here
[homepage.ntlworld.com]

But please backup your Gp3.exe first!

I`ve uploaded a new version of the cockpit cam editor for gp3edit.

Use the 1st link I posted at the start of this thread.

Version 2 Changes:
Added 'Cockpit Camera Editor' to Tools menu in Gp3Edit
Removed Onboard Camera Buttons
Removed Default Settings Button

Still to do:
You still have to click Import before seeing your cockpit camera values.
I`m working on having it as the default cockpit values on startup, instead of the onboard camera values.

Call this version 0.99b

Great work FrankT!
Values under 12 for z axis result in some flashings and mirror effect at the bottom of the screen.
I get once this blue screen error: "A fatal exception 0E has occured at 018F:BFF9DFFF" but I don't know if it's related to this.
I'm working on cinfo cockpits from late 80s and early 90s, analog tachometer and the usual instrumental for the late 80s and digital displays for the 90s. all stuff behind the steering wheel. If anyone have some good cockpit pics please let me know.

Many sets of menu backgrounds for GP3, including those by Baz Matthews and myself, include some closeup cockpit photographs.

Yet another version just finished!

The first standalone version. You dont need to use Gp3Edit anymore.
Phew!
Probably the last version for quite a while...

Thanks JackiMatra, I'll try to download some sets of menu backgrounds, it might take a while though. (I'm on dialup here)

FrankT, did you know how to do the same thing for gp3-2000?

Hernan,

I could send you all of the cockpit photographs that I have, including those from all of Baz Matthews' sets, if you like. That would certainly be much easier and faster than you downloading all of those complete menu background sets.

Just tell me what years you are interested in, and tell me your e-mail address where I could send them.

that was fast!
I'm not looking for a specific year but lets say some late 80' and up to 95. I specially need the display dashboards and instrumental that are behind the steering wheel.
the e-mail is trackeditor at hotmail dot com

thanks.

Hernan,

I've sent you the 1980's photographs.
I'll send you some 1990's ones later.

I get this effect for any Z value... but I think it's related to the cockpit shape. =\

I thought I found some cam for the mirrors before, but it turned out to be like a flag setting for the mirror texture I think(can`t be sure). Different values seem to change the textures orientation. e.g. it can be reversed and you get a view in the mirrors of the the front view flipped left/right(weird). If I could find out more about this it might mean being able to alter the texture co-ordinates for the car and cockpit(maybe). If so could have mirrors in onboard view.

Hernan,

I don`t know about gp3-2000. Would need to know if the cameras are the same format as 1.13. What editors let you change the onboard cams in gp3-2000?
Would be easy if it is same format, would just need to alter one call in my editor and it would work for gp3-2000. (Where it reads and writes to in the GP3 2000 exe).

SuperSonic,

I`ve been using your 2004 car and cockpit shape. While messing with the camera I extended the floor and sides of the cockpit, looks good with higher views and a bit of tilt downwards. Wish you could have a front wing on the cockpit shape for raised views! I moved the mirrors slightly too, to hide the unsightly front wheels that are invisible half underneath.(Wish I could fix that, think its to do with a texture mask for the cockpit, so it doesn`t have to draw whats not meant to be seen).
Also on lower views there is a hole along the sides of the cockpit that needed closing up a bit.

I can't put a front wing or anything else... the cockpitshape is very limited. I tried to put the view like it was a T-cam. Worked nice, but I got half tyres and a stupid 2d car ;)

I don't know why there are holes and mirrors inside the cockpit... I tried to solve it in several ways but couldn't get a good result.

Beta gp3-2000 cockpit cam editor, backup your gp3_2000.exe first!!!

I don`t know if this works as I don`t have gp3 2000 addon.
