James Allen is rubbish, he just thinks too much of himself. Pit reporter is what he is suited for.
Also, Murray Walker had an excuse for making mistakes - he was truly passionate, and also senile. But the way Allen nearly cried when he thought Button had finished in 6th for about a minute, only to be corrected by his Mr. Perfect sidekick that he was still 4th, was a good example.

Murray was and still is the greatest commentator ever! In fact, lets get cloning legalised so we'll never miss a race without Murray again........not ever!!!

Also I think MS has got to have sold his soul to the devil! He gets all the luck, aurrgh! He gets a knock trying to make JPM go wide and they blame JPM!???? Yet he cut so far right that JPM had to go left when he already had the right side of the track! What would have happened if JPM's traction control was working a little better? There woulda been a big mess before the first corner thats what. MS cut over so much that he hardly moved forward! I think he had trolley wheels on to go sideways that fast!

Oh yeah, and then everybody else just let MS through the field without so much as a fight! I mean, I know he has the faster car but can't they at least try and block him off, maybe just a little?

And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't hear this supposed "loud sucking noise" when he's talking about Michael.

Give him a break guys. And considering you didn't even hear his commentary this race, Ellis, I can't understand why you're getting yourself so worked up over it. For all you know it could have been superb.

Nowm in James's credit that was VERY difficult to work with, the feeb from Sepang was crap and the director there seemed to like cutting out important stuff!

you'd think by now that with martin brundle being to tell who is on a fast lap by looking at the sector times on the monitors in the commentary booth that the FIA would help out by having someone with knowledge of f1 to assist the director

the whole planet bar the f1 digital channel has to use the feed by the host broadcaster in the particular country the race is at, so the FIA won't be too pleased with the debarcle that was sundays race.

i think they should do what i suggested

Constructive Criticism is wanted? Firstly this thread was started as a light hearted poke at James. But if you want my real gripes here goes:

1 The shouting at the start of each of this years races sounds artificial as if he is trying to fill the boots of Murray
2 Quite a few tired old cliches have been used
3 Attempts to be a comedian just do not work if you're naturally not funny
4 Too much digression from the actual action on track
5 Counting down to the end of the race on numerous occaisions, giving incorrect laps remaining and how many laps the race was long
6 My personal opinion is he tries too hard to sound as if he's been around for ages

As I said in the very first post and Ellis later mentioned, the world feed was very poor. However timing screens are provided to give accurate information, and can be used to good effect (especially by M.Brundle),to keep viewers informed of what's actually going on on track. Admittedly not everyone who watches F1 on ITV is as mad about the sport as the people on this forum, But judging by the reaction of my workmates(some fans and some casual watchers) his commentary leaves a lot to be desired!

As he proved last year, while filling in for Murray, he has his own style which I felt was well balanced backed up with useful gen. It now seems that he is trying to be someone he is not. Whether ITV have asked him to do this or what who knows? So the next time I decide to vent my fury in an off the cuff way, it doesn't mean to say I don't have any constructive views. It certainly led to some heated discussion and people airing their views. We don't all have to be so anal, that's what makes the world so good. Everyone is an individual with their own opinions and views.
