I've completed the first round of my 1967 season driving as Jim Clark. My engine failed on lap 46 when I was running in third place. Graham Hill started from pole and led every single lap winning the race quite easily allthough Denny Hulme was not so far behind. Gurney and Rodriguez retired late in the race so privateer Bob Anderson took a surprising fourth place ;)

Ok got a question for all you who do past championships. What do you all think of using Failure Editor to recreate how the real races finished or do you just let the program figure that out? Just wondering I've done both

Well knowing how a race will unfold in terms of failures takes the fun out of it in a way..imo

I agree.
The same for specific race performance files :)

Well, I use Failure Editor to eliminate drivers right at the beginning of the race ONLY IF there were less then 22 starters in real-life Grand Prix. As seen above, in my Kyalami 1967 race there were only 17 drivers.
In addition I change the value in the GP3 edit to make sure that the unwanted drivers qualify right at the back of the grid so the won't get in the way of the rest of the field. That's what I call "realism'!!!

It's a full season perf file, so I don't know when both McLarens will have a failure, or when Schumacher will wing with an advantage of +30s...
I prefer things this way, randomized :)

Lopper, you know on your reports, when you say "at the restart", do you mean that you judged the situation to be "red flag worthy" and just reloaded a save at the start of the race? :D If so, heheh that's quite funny but also a good idea - shame there won't be the arguements in teams about who gets the spare car though, as they will all line up as if it never happened ^_-

Yeah, i save at the start of the race, and if there is a massive accident, or someone rolls over or something, then i judge it red flag worthy and re-start it. Haven't had one in a while now mind, I think Da Matta's aerobatic display at Montreal was the last one.

Do you ever manage to not get PO's above 100% at the start? For some reason GP3 really hates windows XP O_o

No luck for me at Monaco. I took pole position ahead of Graham Hill but he passed my on the very first lap. Afterwards I was right on his gearbox until a transmission failure on lap 19. Hill went on to win the second race of the season, with Bandini, Brabham and Gurney all dropping out from second place during the race. Surtees had an electrical problem but used the attrition to grab 2nd spot at the end of the day. Hulme and Amon collided with another cars and crashed in St. Devote early in the race.

Results Monaco GP (80 laps)
1. Graham Hill
2. Surtees - 1 lap
3. Stewart - 2
4. P. Rodriguez - 2
5. Siffert - 3
6. Bonnier - 3
7. Rindt - 3
8. Servoz Gavin - 4
9. Beltoise - 5

Points: Hill 18, Hulme, Surtees 6, Stewart 5, Brabham 4... Clark 0

Next round: Zandvoort

Forgot about this thread!

I am currently doing a 1991 season as Nigel Mansell. I am leading the championship at the moment as I won at Phoenix with two surprise podium finishes from Pirro and Bernard as all of the leading drivers have crashed out and only 6 drivers finished the GP.

I struggled really badly at Interlagos with nasty understeer all of the race as Patrese and Berger dominated the GP and lapped everybody including me. This is the first time in my GP3 career mode from 1973-1991 that I have been lapped in a 100% race but luckily due to a good pit stop stradegy (sp?) of a 3 stopper and I overtook Alesi 12 laps before the end to finish 3rd.

I dominated the San Marino GP with a strong win from Ayrton Senna, the surprise package of the day was Minardi with Morbidelli and Martini taking 4th and 5th with Jordan getting the final point to claim their first ever championship point.

The Monaco Gp was a classic, I qualified 5th and got to 3rd before the first corner. I was up on Alain Prost's gearlox for the first 21 laps till I made a daredevil move at Casino to overtake Prost. Then I caught up quickly and got close to Gerhard Berger on lap 26. It was a great scrap for the next 6 laps, exchanging positions and I finally overtook him at Tabc and drove away.

Berger, Senna and Patrese encountered problems and kissed the armco to end their races. I was having a tough time going through the backmarkers and Porst gained on me. Unfortunately I collided with Gachot at St Devote and Prost took the lead.

With 25 laps to go, I overtook him at Casino and then it was a case of defending my position for the next 15 laps. There was a 3rd place battle brewing with Morbidelli holding off from Schumacher amd Martini.

Morbidelli went off at Massanet and Piquet spun there and Gachot collided with Piquet resulting both drivers to retire.

At lap 76, Prost went off in a big wat at Tabac and all of the chaos and Schumacher and Martini promoted to 2nd and 3rd.

I won the Monaco GP smoothly afterwards.

I will crack on at Montreal tonight.

Well since my gp2 championship died in interest Im going to wait until I can get GP3 working again on my computer (or on a new computer I'm thinking of buying lol) as I really desperately miss the game and although I love gp2 to death, the strategies etc just arent as refined as gp3.

However I may start a mini championship all for me to keep myself going over the off season that I'll keep you all updated on anyway!

Happy new year all! :)
