The sprint race I can call a small disaster, since Vimal was running in a comfortable second, yet we again seem to do just the polar opposite of a good strategy every time in these sprints! And it lost him a lot of time. Alex drove fantastic as ever, was in a good 6th place after being stone dead last at one point, just to be taken out by a late breaking Dardan...
The full race, well, a completely different story!
Alex got off to a bad start on heavy fuelload, and was dropping places left right and centre just like we expected against the big boys, and he ended up being the last to pit which dropped him a few more. But then, he was on fire! Some spectacular passes just like he shown in Canada, and luckily he didn't get taken out this time. A few laps and he would've been on the podium, but 4th from the front row is a pretty solid performance after that start! Vimal on the other hand, was somewhat there, closing towards the edge of those points but I think he got robbed off them in the closing stages. We tried some undercuts to get him going forwards in terms of track position, which paid off for sure, but we needed more pace.
Overall, I think Alex drove beautifully in both sprint and full considering the garbage machinery he's in, and has to be one of the candidates for driver of the day. Should give us a nice boost in the Constructors'
edit: just gave this a check, 4th place is our highest team finish in the feature!!
