Graphics issues in GP3

Hey all.

I just got myself a new laptop, and I went to run GP3 on it the other day. It ran like an absolute charm at full graphics, except for these few issues...

I should point out this doesn't affect any other games. GP4 works fine too, no issues there, just GP3 and GP32K are affected by this, and it's quite annoying. I have an NVidia GeForce GT750M and the PC has 8GB of RAM, but for some reason I can't use the GeForce in GP3 as when I set it to run that in the nVidia Control Panel, GP3 just loads a black screen but the audio runs as normal. So, I'm using Intel HD 4500 graphics. If anyone could help me out here I'd really appreciate it. :)

Ah yes, typical problem when black = transparent. Go into jam editor or something and hit the transparency option box :P

I can't see that option anywhere. If you mean under Edit > Properties, Transparency isn't on...

Open the bmp file of the tyre with Gp3Editor.
Color the pink lines in black.
It usually works.
Bye

Thanks for the help with that, but I was talking about the fact that the game doesn't render the black properly (missing West/Marlboro logos...)

since you're using the onbaord graphics, i think you're driving in software modus, right?

Then its better to use the software jam editor.
Open the car jam in gp3jams/Liveries
double-click on 1 of the 3 jams and look at transparent (4th on the left) , activate that
do this for the other 2 as well
save the jam

do this for all car jams

hope that helps

Nope, this is in hardware mode. I don't need to use SW as HW works fine enough. Just the issues with it not rendering the black.

I think I should also point out it's not just the cars that have these issues. Some helmets are missing a few pixels and even the cockpits have the same problem, although this rectifies itself after a few seconds.

ok, what if you try the same for the liveries in gp3jamsh?
It has the same checkbox

I tried that with the Ferrari jam and it caused the game to CTD after loading 2 lights. Had to reload the origial JAMs to get it to work again.

In gp3-2000, where I modded alot all black&very dark pixels with RGB-values up to 15 had this transparency issues. I solved this prob by exchanging them to very dark grey ones. Warning: this process is a real torture, so get yourselfe loaded with shortcuts! hot

(advise: first, backup jams!)
-export bmp from jam with jammer(cars)/jameditor(rest)

-open bmp in MSPaint
-press: Strg+A, Strg+C /select all+copy

-in photoshop
-Stgr+N hit Enter /new file
-Strg+V /paste pixels
-File/Save for web..
-select gif-format
-in pixel-editing-windows "select->delete" every single dark pixel with RGB-values 0-15
-save gif to HD
-open gif with MSPaint in 2nd window
-press: Strg+A, Strg+C /select all+copy

-in 1st MSPaint window:
(orig bmp is still open and "all pixels selected"!)
-Strg+V, Strg+S /paste+save bmp (overwrite!)

-back to jammer/jameditor (still open):
-import new bmp into jam

if you didn´t got messed up with files it works. hope I wrote it right
-sorry, the only way I know..

ps: Alt+Tab lets you switch progies. good luck and patience :)

..you´re welcome! btw: this also happens in gp3v1.13, or only in the 2000edition?

To the best of my knowledge it's only a issue in GP32k... :)

..aha, ok. now I´m sure what the gp3-2000-advertisment means with "transparency as new feature". means practically someone could design for example a rearwing on a racecar with transparent areas! would make the wings look like more realistic.. ;)

thx!

Well, I managed to solve the issue by an alternative method - running it using my GeForce (It was running on Intel HD graphic before). That fixed the missing pixels, but when one problem disappeared another rose up - now everything flickers!

Did you update your drivers as well ?

Yep, running latest drivers (335.23), obtained from GeForce Experience. Checked it in GFEX and it says they're up to date.

What are your graphic settings in game ? Probably you're running the game with a too high or too poor graphic settings.
Btw, what is your OS ? XP ? s7ven ? Hate ?
