a simple test, i always do when i have a ctd, is to drive the track without loading the jams; just rename the jamfolder and launch the game.
About those far sights : it will only crash the game when you are using the exterior cameras, when staying behind the wheel it won't. (at least not with me)

Can you let me know which track(s) are crashing and where you found them?

till tomorow...

was the post for me? well, was just asking. it's more for an aestethical matter so not that important. gp3 lacks to show backface of the guard rails so in external camera it makes the tracks look clumsy sometimes. that's all :)

on another hand i'd like to request your help. i fell on the kerb profile limit. it seems to work (i guess so, it just loaded but no further info about it) in debug mode but without debug mode it crashes giving me this assertion:
0x0048df6d -> Total number of kerb profile definitions (cmd 0xca) >= 32 (1024 for GP4).
0x0048df6d -> Total number of kerb profile definitions (cmd 0xca) >= 32 (1024 for GP4).

is there a way to push ahead this limit in Gp3? I just discovered a graphical trick that made me quite happy but it requires a lot of these commands. will send you the dat file eventually.

update: i think exceeding this command brings a malfunction despite of loading in debug mode. at some point of the track the kerb profiles took a different width which i don't recognize being set anywhere

Hi rob, about those kerb profiles, i ran also often in that limit : kerbs are pointing to the sky, or you see no kerb and when you drive over them you flip yourself over.
Therefore i use the 2 types of kerbs : 1 type mainly for the straights and the other for corners.
In this way i could always manage the max number of profiles for each type of kerb.

If you look at my updates for india, or any other modern track,you will better understand what i mean.
It would be nice if rené could bypass this limit in his gpxpatch.

hi, yes i know. what i mean is changing the width of the kerb to make complex figures. unfortunately they must be set for each sector independently of the type of kerb.
check this structure. instead of making the track junction altering the track width which bugs the ccline i did it using kerbs which accept higher values. but the limit of 32 doesn't offer much room to make detailed stuff

oh, i see what you mean.
I saw you doing similar stuff with road side and fence side verges in the past.
In GP4 they seem to have something similar but don't know how they do it there.

good luck.

I can extend it to 255 max. Higher is not possible because it stores the index in de segment as a byte.

for the normal use of kerbs, that would be already enough,rené.
Keep it in mind when updating the patch. More suggestions may come.:-)

hi, thanks Renè. I suspected 255 was the limit. it would be incredibly useful
