Hi all !!!!

I'm having the following problem:

When I do "export car to exe" 80, 81 and 82 all run with the default car steering wheel. That´s OK !!!!!

But when I do the same procedure for 83 and 84 I notice that the car steering wheel changed.

How do I do to keep the car steering wheel default for these years. (83 and 84)

I am using CAR EDITOR VERSION 3.7 - GP3 1.13 - CARSHAPE GENERIC

If anyone wants to see, I put the pictures here to show what is happening.

Thanks

it means those 2 carshapes are provided with their own steering wheel. you should have their proper graphics in the same package or can install separately the one you want.
with cockpit editor i think you can reset the wheel to default.

:-(

How do I do this ?

Try to do a test yourself with 1980 generic carshape ( car steering wheel default ) and 1984 carset generic carshape ( car steering wheel NOT default, it's different )

What is the correct procedure to install and maintain only the carshape other items equal ?

Can you help me ?

Tks

not fully sure about but you can try to open the 83 carhape and export the CFT to a file. It should contain only the car body. Then import all from Gp3 and load this CTF, then export again all to Gp3.
First of all try to use the cockpit editor. it has the default steering set as you open it, so just export to patch back the game then do the part above.

I don't manage steering wheels often so someone else can be more precise on this procedure if i made mistakes

Hi R_Scandura.

Thank you so much for the tip. Your help was very useful.

I decided to do a little step by step in order to get registered here and help future friends.

Procedure.

A - The first thing I did was import the 1980 charshape into the GP3 with careditor. As already said this carshape has Steering Wheel Default.

01 - Open the GP3 Car Editor
02 - Click on FILE
03 - Click on LOAD CAR
04 - Select 1980_Generic.cs3
05 - Click on OPEN
06 - Click on EXPORT CAR TO EXE
07 - The message will appear: FINISHED PATCHING GP3.EXE
08 - Click OK
09 - The message will appear: DO YOU WANT ADVANCED EXPORTING
10 - Click YES
11 - Click on FILE, then click CLOSE.

B - The next step is to remove the file 1984_Generic.cs3 only the shape of the car.

01 - Click on FILE
02 - Click on LOAD CAR
03 - Select 1984_Generic.cs3
04 - Click on OPEN
05 - Click on FILE
06 - Click on EXPORT CFT
07 - Give a name to the file and save

IMPORTANT: As mentioned only the 1984 shape of the car was saved.

08 - Click on FILE, then click CLOSE.

C - The next step is to import the shape of the car into the GP3.

01 - Click on IMPORT CAR FROM EXE ( Here is 1980 car that is inside the GP3 )
02 - Click on FILE and then IMPORT CFT
03 - Chose a file CFT ans click on OPEN ( Now we have the shape of the car 1984 on the tyres, steering, cockpit and helmet )
04 - Click on EXPORT CAR TO EXE
05 - The message will appear: FINISHED PATCHING GP3.EXE
06 - Click OK
07 - The message will appear: DO YOU WANT ADVANCED EXPORTING
08 - Click YES
09 - The message will appear: EXPORT HELMET
10 - Click YES
11 - The message will appear: FINISHED PATCHING GP3.EXE
12 - Click OK
13 - The message will appear: EXPORT COCKPIT
14 - Click YES
15 - The message will appear: FINISHED PATCHING GP3.EXE
16 - Click OK
17 - The message will appear: EXPORT TYRES
18 - Click YES
19 - The message will appear: FINISHED PATCHING GP3.EXE
20 - Click OK
21 - The message will appear: EXPORT Sterring
22 - Click YES
23 - The message will appear: FINISHED PATCHING GP3.EXE
24 - Click OK
25 - Click on FILE, then click CLOSE.

Yes, now we have the 1984 Carshape with the Steering Wheel Default.

THE END

Thanks and sorry for my english !!!!

Thx Evandro and Roberto ,

this was very helpful, there must be more posts like this on GP3 to explain how things works properly.

BTW is it normal that, when driving in game you always see the car changing to original carshape from 1998 at a distance... is there a way to avoid that?

if i remember it's the RCR distance in the GpXLap tab of the GpXPatch. it should set at which distance the carshape is automatically switched to the original. But from memories i remember that increasing too much these values will increase the processor work.

If I'm correct you can also set it in carshape editor
