another thing if u notice the arms are really thin , well also in real life the arms dont go straight from the wheel to the shoulders they bend down into the cocpit and then up to the shoulders

the thing is adding the shape to the helmet, you are right about the shape button14, but in gp4 you'll have to live with a compromise, cause if the shape is 100% anatomicly correct, it will not look as good when it's mocing, due to the restrictions this method has.
what you need to do is add the arms to the shape, and move the helmet itself up, and the position of the helmetfile down (with for instance teameditor) then you need to disable forward moving of the helmet, otherwise the steeringwheel is not locked in the cockpit. you can do this with a gp4tweaker version, or by editting hex values of your gp4.exe (as we did with the gp4.gamer.nl set) if you want to now how to do this, you should look at gp4tweakers' forums.

So, as far as I can gather, the wheel and arms model, uses the same .gp4 file as the helmet(in effect, one single shape). The individuality comes from the helmet textures. So, different wheel models depend on how many different(if any) helmet models can be used at the same time.

Is this correct?

Yep, from what I understand. That's why if they can manage to get individual helmet shapes then they can get individual wheels too.
